Europe Calls for Immediate Cease-Fire in Israel-Palestinian Fighting

Source: The New York Times

BRUSSELS — European Union foreign ministers overwhelmingly called for an immediate cease-fire between Israel and the Palestinians in an emergency meeting on Tuesday, according to the bloc’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell Fontelles.

All of the member states except Hungary backed a statement that condemned rocket attacks by Hamas and supported Israel’s right to self-defense but also cautioned that it had “to be done in a proportional manner and respecting international humanitarian law,’’ Mr. Borrell said at a news conference.

He said that the number of civilian casualties in Gaza, “including a high number of women and children,’’ was “unacceptable.’’ And he said that the European Union, as part of the quartet with the United States, Russia and the United Nations that seeks peace in the Middle East, would push to restart a serious diplomatic process.

“The priority is the immediate cessation of all violence and the implementation of a cease-fire,” Mr. Borrell said. Foreign policy in the European Union works by unanimity, so Mr. Borrell’s comments, despite Hungary’s opposition, were an effort, he said, “to reflect the overall agreement.”

It is the US that keeps blocking it. That needs to stop. Enough already with the killing fields of Gaza.

5. I'm sure eventually they will, but at the end of the day, there's only 1 thing that will stop it all

and that thing will NEVER happen:

All or at least a HUGE majority of the Jewish Israelis leave and a new homeland is given to them.

They will never, ever, ever do that.

All the other solutions will not work given the current state of technology. Even IF the ultra Zionist RW was crushed politically, I think that eventually the attacks back and forth will start up again, and the ploughshares of the doves will be beaten into swords yet again.

Why will all other options/outcomes (some extraordinarily brutal) fail?

First off, ברירת שמשון aka the Samson Option.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samson_Option

Israel has a shit tonne of thermonuclear bombs (aka hydrogen bombs), hundreds of them, many on subs (so ironically, German-made ultra-advanced electric ones) and of course, land and sea launched as well, to ensure that it is impossible to stop it just by glassing off the mainland territory. If they think they are going down, they will likely take a billion+ with them. They also, someday, may think they can get away with a very limited nuking of one of their deadly enemies, most likely Iran, as long as the US signs off on it, whether openly, or clandestinely, but that part (limited nuking) is likely to be never needed, as I think IF Iran did go all suicidal and did all out attack Israel, and started to actually destroy it for good, then hello Samson Option (and yes, the US is DEFFO a big multiple-city target for them in the Samson Option, they mean to take down the world if they are going out forever).

Secondly (and why just removing all the Palestinians will not work either) Israeli current stratagems require enough Palestinians living there (and this is key, I mean for now only) to act as human shields, so the Muslim world doesn't just say fuck it, let's use the hundreds of billions of dollars of US and Russian and Chinese missiles, military planes, tanks, etc etc and blow Israel off the map, OR, attempt a massive land invasion. Those Israeli nukes also are a massive deterrent as well. They (Israel) basically want to reduce the Palestinians to living in an ever-decreasing-in-size cow pen, simply for human shield insurance. The Palestinians being there, and constantly attacking Israel, and Israel constantly attacking them, also is, when viewed on a decades-long future forward sweep, a huge diversion (in a bizarre way, as the act of penning and gradual removal is driving the attacks as well) to the totality of the penning in in terms of its end-game level of severity. The back and forth attacks give the RW Zionists a rationalisation for the further penning and takings of land. Tail wags dog, dog wags tail, and in both circumstances, the dog is beaten with a whip, so dog bites, then is whipped more.

That all said, one day, given the right tech advances, the Jewish Israelis may finally decide they CAN kill and/or kick out ALL of Palestinians, and that they now (again, this is the future I am speaking of) have the tech to stop ANYONE (even the US/Russia/China) from doing anything about it, AND will suffer no real blowback in terms of an invasion and/or their own total destruction (and thus, via the Samson Option, much of the world). No clue what that tech would be, maybe scalar wave domes, who knows, but that would be the end of it all, in terms of the Palestinians in Israel.

Meanwhile, it will be an endless shitshow of death, destruction, and ever increasing penning in, with the Palestinians never, ever having a chance to stop the inevitable.

6. No, we want a cease fire but it must be honored by both sides.

As long as Hamas keeps firing missiles at innocent Israeli citizens there can be no cease fire.
