F9 star John Cena apologized to Chinese fans Tuesday after calling Taiwan a country in a promotional interview, but many viewers in the worlds largest film market have deemed his beseeching appeal for forgiveness insufficient.
Speaking with the Taiwanese news channel TVBS earlier this month, the professional wrestler who has been learning Chinese for over a decade said in Mandarin that Taiwan would be the first country able to watch the latest installment of the Fast & Furious franchise. The release in Taiwan was originally scheduled for May 18, three days before China and more than five weeks ahead of its June 25 U.S. debut, but it has been delayed indefinitely due to a worsening in local COVID-19 conditions.

Geez, Why is John apologizing for speaking the truth? did he suddenly lost his spine like LeBron?
he should ask Chinese people why they have to use 'international' line when flying to taiwan, instead of domestic.

(6,201 posts)Being Chinese, she says Taiwan is part of China. I keep asking how that is possible since you have to pass through customs, they have their own laws, money, and elections.
She just burps back to CCP line without thought.

(868 posts)i was in school back in taiwan, we were also drilled into our head that mainland china is part of Republic of China and one day we would go and reclaim the mainland.
now the truth is. CCP can easily give up Taiwan as they did with Mongolia, which used to be an 'unbreakable' part of China, and that was definitely part of China with longer history.

(34,876 posts)They've been strategic and patient; they assimilated Macau, they're assimilating Hong Kong. If they have to wait 30, 50 years to retake Taiwan, they've got plenty of time.
They're busy building ports all over the Developing world while we're playing with our dicks on the Internet and giving Billionaires tax cuts.

(16,988 posts)He should never have apologized for that. I'm sure the people who are promoting Fast and Furious told him he had to, though. The Chinese need to accept the fact that Taiwan is a nation of its own now. If they can't handle that, fuck them.

Funny how they want to appear so "woke" when its US issues but weak as a spaghetti noodle when it has to do with anyone ELSE
