An inmate once condemned to die for a murder committed when he was 17 lost a bid Friday to overturn his current sentence of life without parole.

The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals turned away the appeal of Gregory Wynn, 40, who was convicted of capital murder in the slaying of Denise Bliss, 33. She was fatally beaten and left inside a freezer while working as manager at a Hardee’s restaurant in Anniston in April 1998.

Should he be granted it? Tough call.
The crime he committed was horrible but on the other hand he was still only 17 at the time so I am honestly kind of conflicted.

However, that does not mean they will get it automatically.

You have to EARN it.

Some crimes are so heinous, it will never be granted.

But I do believe they should not executed, nor sent into prison on life without parole.

Judge Brian Howell found Wynn was mature in his decision to commit the crime and that he had no mental health issues.

During his nearly 20 years in prison, Wynn earned his GED and organized events for Black History Month. But the ruling pointed out Wynn has not always been a model prisoner with nearly 20 disciplinary actions, including possessing a cell phone and operating a prohibited social media account.

The judge's order found "evidence that Wynn's activities in prison were not rehabilitative, as he does not see any personal need for rehabilitation."

Life without parole is not an unjust sentence for such an evil crime.
