12 states have met the Biden administration's goal to vaccinate 70% of adults against Covid-19

Source: cnn

Twelve states have now reached the Biden administration’s goal to vaccinate 70% of adults with at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine by July 4, according to data published Tuesday by the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

California and Maryland join Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont in reaching that benchmark.

Overall, 296,404,240 total doses of Covid-19 have been reported administered, about 81% of the 366,317,045 total doses delivered.

The CDC did not update its Covid-19 data tracker on Monday, but about 1.5 million doses have been reported administered since Sunday, for a seven-day average of about 1.2 million doses per day.............................................

62% of the people in my county are fully vaccinated. Maybe 10-15% wear a mask at the grocery store.

296,404,240 administered, US population 331,449,281, if these numbers are accurate that leaves only about 35 M that have not received at least one dose..what am I missing

Today’s number is 168.5 million. That’s a pretty big gap between 296 million and 168 million. Given the resistance to vaccines in the red states, I tend to doubt the 296 number. Texas alone has a population of around 30 million and only about half the people here have been vaccinated. Several other red states have millions of unvaccinated.

44% at least one dose.

Which is why I'm highly skeptical of a claim put forth that in Dallas some 506 people who were vaccinated got the virus, a bunch were hospitalized, and 7 died. Even the CDC no longer tracks supposed breakthrough infections because they are so rare, and according to their numbers never result in death and only rarely in hospitalization.

I'm not much of sleeper so I tend to do my grocery shopping early in the morning...the checkers were maskless and the the social distancing floor markers had been removed..the checker said all employees were fully vaccinated so masks were no long mandatory...however, the woman checking out in front of me let everyone within hearing distance know that she was a proud anti-vaxxer, but carried a counterfeit vaccine card .....next week I'm going to visit my grandchildren (two of which are babies) in Colorado,..because of anti-vaxxers I cannot take the chance that I can "bring" the virus to them so the mask stays on....

Of the total administered, a lot of people have already had two. That cuts the number of people dosed down, so you can't subtract 296m from 331m because it's not 296m individuals.

Sure, in the end, the total % of the population is what matters. but 70% of adults probably means that those adults will get their kids vaccinated when they are eligible. There will be some who get it for themselves, but not their children, hopefully that is a small number.

We're close to 51% of the total population with 1 shot, we got here much more quickly than anyone thought we could. But the next 20% is going to be slow going.

And 7 other states have reached 60% one dose. Seven more states, plus the District of Columbia are over 55%.

I think there is a very good chance at least 15 states will meet that goal by the 4th of July.
They have a little over 1 month to meet the goal.

Unfortunately, the gap between blue and red states keeps widening. Eight red states are under 40% one dose.
