Fauci Says He Didn't Play Down China Lab-Leak Theory of Covid-19 Origins
Source: Wall Street Journal
Anthony Fauci, the governments top infectious-disease authority, said he never played down the possibility that the SARS-CoV-2 virus could have been leaked from a lab in China, calling accusations he did so for political reasons preposterous.
Speaking at The Wall Street Journals Tech Health event, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said that when scientists who had studied the virus floated the idea in February 2020 that it could have been manipulated, he quickly gathered a group of scientists together.
After further examination, he said, the scientists reached the conclusion that the most likely scenario was that the virus that causes Covid-19 had jumped from animals to humans. He said he remains open-minded about the origin of the virus.
Until you nail it down definitively, you always have to keep an open mind that it might be something else, Dr. Fauci said. And thats the way I have always been from the very beginning, I have not changed my mind.

If it was in China, what are you going to do? Send over some airstrikes?
More relevant - vaccinate everybody!
Took a while for Repugnants to organize a hit on Fauci though, seems they are loosing their touch!

(14,859 posts)I mostly observed it among people whose first instinct is to accuse others of racism.
Although anything even suggested by some right-wingers during the Trump administration was going to be legitimately racist in many cases, so that instinct was understandable.
I've remained open-minded about it too, nonetheless.
I even suggested months ago, repeatedly, that Trump supporters would probably wear masks more often if the Wuhan lab-leak idea was regularly promoted in the news. Or if Trump had more strongly suggested it, urging his cult to wear masks to defend themselves from the foreign-created threat.
Instead, his dumbass followers did the opposite, which is pretty ironic and somewhat humorous to me if the lab-leak hypothesis is ever verified.

(9,174 posts)Whether Fauci questioned a leak or not doesn't matter because they planned this pounding. Just as they are doing with VP Harris and border.

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Several months before the coronavirus pandemic began, the Trump administration eliminated a key American public health position in Beijing intended to help detect disease outbreaks in China, Reuters has learned."

I really wish the Democrats would push this information out more aggressively to counter the misinformation that is constantly floated on the airwaves.
