Oregon House expels Rep. Nearman after December Capitol breach

Source: KATU

SALEM, Ore. — The Oregon House of Representatives voted to expel one of its own members, Republican Rep. Mike Nearman, Thursday night after he let far-right demonstrators into a closed Capitol during a December special session.

The vote was 59 to 1. The only member voting against House Resolution 3 was Nearman.

It was the first time in its history that the body voted to expel one of its members.

A special committee voted unanimously earlier in the day to recommend expelling him.

then why can’t the Repubs in DC admit that the aiders and abettors in congress deserve punishment for Jan 6?

in Oregon to scare them with nasty screeds on OAN, Newsmax, and Fox. There's also no Murdoch, Mercer or Koch to withhold millions in dark money. That would be my guess.

their own grandmothers (probably with a smile on their faces while doing the deed as well) if that is what it took to get it.

I’m surprised. I’ve come to expect the worst from GOP-anything/anywhere/anyhow and so far they’ve been mighty true to that.

Still don’t trust but this was kind of a nice surprise.

I wouldn’t have expected it. And a unanimous vote on their part, too? Since when did each of ‘em start growing a conscience or a desire to do the right thing?

If his actions could have shown to be even slightly ambiguous the Repubs would be excusing it.

What a horrible person! The proverbial fox in the henhouse!

His insurrection efforts in Oregon, planned by him as revealed in a later-released video, seemed almost like a rehearsal for what later happened in DC on January 6th.

voted to expel, and explained that Nearman had lied to him. Hard to imagine a Republican lying.

Him out. Apparently sedition is the one bipartisan issue. I do wonder if the Dems threatened to exclude them from redistricting.
