Timothy Holloway clutched the wheel of a Biden-Harris campaign bus last October, swerving and dodging as one hostile car bearing a Trump flag after another tried to run him off a Texas highway.
We were terrified, Holloway said in a news release. They were clearly trying to scare us and prevent us from arriving at our destination in peace.
The tactic worked the Biden campaign canceled the rest of the days events, saying it feared for the safety of campaign staffers, supporters and local political candidates. Some prominent Republicans cheered the effort by the self-proclaimed Trump Train, while President Donald Trump himself lauded their efforts, calling the drivers patriots who did nothing wrong.
Now, Holloway along with a White House staffer, a former Texas lawmaker and a campaign volunteer are suing several members of the caravan, accusing them of violating the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871, which bars violent election intimidation, as well as local Texas laws. The group is also suing local law enforcement, claiming they failed to provide protection.

(8,905 posts)For liability. Maybe that would cover it. But probably only up to a million $$.
They are going to have lawyers retainer fees u front too. So that's going to delay a few truck payments.
Sucks to be a Klan Fascist.

(9,354 posts)from a Homeowners (or Renters) policy., and from an auto policy.
It doesn't cover criminal charges. It doesn't cover punitive damages of penalties. For any occurrennce it does cover, the company goes to court with its own attornies. It doesn't cover any injury which "might reasonably have been expected" unless the injury occurred in the defense of the insured's person or property.
There are other exclusions. Propert and Casualty policies are pretty standard, though there are some small differences from company to company. But the bottom line is, no company is going to want to cover someone for intentionally doing something stupid. If it isn't expressly excluded and the company is stuck, increased rates are the least of it. The policy is more likely to be cancelled or non-remewed ... and good luck getting another one.

I wish the bus had run them over but no doubt these "patriots" had guns too.
Trump and company, Fox News, and hate talk radio/tv/internet sites, and right
wing racist terrorists have so toxified so many brains they do not know right from

(19,251 posts)The pro-Trump cars and trucks surrounded the bus on Interstate 35 and looked to be trying to slow it down and force it to the side of the road, according to witnesses. In one instance, the vehicles pulled in front of the bus and tried to stop in the middle of the highway. Another side swiped a car being driven by a campaign staffer.

(4,168 posts)They were notified in advance about safety concerns and apparently told a former San Marcos city councilwoman that they'd be there. Then she was on the bus and the Trump Train tried to do their stuff in San Antonio but law enforcement there prevented it. But they lost jurisdiction once the bus left Bexar county.
When the Trump Train started harassing them in Comal County, she called for law enforcement in Hays County and they didn't come. A campaign event at Texas State University in San Marcos was one of those cancelled over safety concerns.
This is a big deal. This article may be easier to read than the Texas Civil Rights Project press release link below.
Wendy Davis, others sue law enforcement and Trump supporters over Trump Train harassing Biden bus in Texas
The plaintiffs argue the Trump supporters engaged in political intimidation when they surrounded the Biden campaign bus in October, in violation of the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871, and that police "turned a blind eye to the attack."

(58,283 posts)They certainly got close enough for the Biden folks to see them.
And some of the Trumpers bragged about the assault on social media, even posting video/pictures of themselves committing the assault. Much like the 1/6 insurrectionists.

(17,577 posts)Two of the defendants, Eliazar Cisneros and Hannah Ceh, put video everywhere on social media.
Cisneros is already known to have tried to run some protestors over in Alamo Plaza prior to harassing the Biden bus. He brags that hes friends with all of the cops because he barbecues for them, and to date at least, Ive not seen anything happen to him.
Ceh is the daughter of Steven Ceh who is the idiot who has caused a bunch of trouble in New Braunfels, which is the city where the bus was near when the altercations happened.

(43,307 posts)These are not just America's not-best people, they are some uncivilized vigilantes whose group assault was likely their way of partying. Their social media pride is meanness meant to validate cult loyalty as they drive out campaigns of 'liberal' insurgents. They'll only feel martyred by 'commie' courts. They are followers of a Might Makes The Right thugocracy.

(17,577 posts)The Ceh family isnt even from Texas. They moved to New Braunfels about three years ago and have been trying to take over. I think the dad (Steven) is trying to run for mayor. Most of the locals cant stand them.

(43,307 posts)Depends on factual evidence presentation arguments, and the judge, even if officially it's about 'the law and the facts.' They should win. But hey, it's Texas, where governors have rick perry brains, and where AG's sue other states even as they float secession.

(5,126 posts)BUT if DEMS DID that, we would be wrong, because only the "good guys" get to wave guns around and terrorize people.
If you "fight back" you are violent.
It's all violent, of course.
BUT IF WE ACTED LIKE THEM, they would shit themselves.
