Trump said whoever 'leaked' info on his White House bunker stay should be 'executed,' new book claim
Source: CNN
Trump, along with then-first lady Melania Trump and their son, Barron, were all taken to the underground bunker for a period of time during the protests spurred by the police killing of George Floyd as protesters gathered outside the building. Bender writes in the book, titled "Frankly, We Did Win This Election: The Inside Story of How Trump Lost, that Trump, in the days following his time in the bunker, held a tense meeting with top military, law enforcement and West Wing advisers, in which he aired grievances over the leak.
"Trump boiled over about the bunker story as soon as they arrived and shouted at them to smoke out whoever had leaked it. It was the most upset some aides had ever seen the president," Bender writes.
'Whoever did that, they should be charged with treason!' Trump yelled. 'They should be executed!'" the book reads.

(1,306 posts)The DeRita family went behind the backs of the Howard and Fine families to strong arm the rights away from the rightful heirs.
So, the heirs of a guy who was a stooge for, what, a drink of water during their "has been" years now own the trademark and rights to the entire catalog. It's disgusting.
And that's not even getting into how the studio treated the Stooges during their heyday. The studio kept them so busy that the guys never knew how popular they really were, and then the studio used that lack of knowledge to keep their contracts at peanuts pay level.
Those guys deserved better.

(21,998 posts)... the decision to move Trump, his wife and son into the bunker was made by the Secret Service. They have absolute authority to move the president to safety.
Not only is Trump a coward but this story illustrates his stupidity. Trump could have been the one to tell the story and spin it to make himself look heroic. He could have told the press the story in an amusing way downplaying the dangers that the Secret Service perceived. Instead, he lied, as usual.
What a whiny, stupid little shit.

(8,279 posts)Why wasnt he taken there on January 6th? If he was in danger, so be it.
He was the instigator so he had to watch from the WH, not below it.

(46,026 posts)You can't appreciate the parallels and differences between your bunker experience and how Congress felt on January 6. How did it feel to worry about your safety due to crowds with loud voices? But you're lucky. Not one protestor crossed over the WH lawn, into the WH, looking for you in your bunker with the intention of harm, maybe even hanging you. No damage to the property. But like Dr. Smith in "Lost in Space," you were cowering and shivering in the WH basement, hoping it would go away.

Not just a law and order stunt for his cult, but a way to get rid of protesters so the Secret Service didn't keep him confined in the bunker.

I think the man responsible for dissembling, ignoring, minimizing, denying while over 600,000 died should be the only person in the world I would consider for the death penalty.
I wonder if he would be the only calm person in the room, like Saddam was when he was hung.
Do not think I am praising Saddam. If we were Iraq, 45 is our Saddam.

(3,922 posts)So now we'll get more and more "first-hand" accounts of what virtually everyone on this site at least knows to be true: we had a madman in the Oval Office.
The madman is still, somehow, riling up his brain-dead followers at rallies and too many states - run by his brain-dead followers - are imposing new barriers to voting in order to maintain their power. This is all normal now, as outrageous as it is to us.
Two lunatics in Congress, one an alleged pedophile, and the other simply a lunatic, are embarking on tour now - apparently free to pollute the body politic with more nonsense.
We don't have any national voting rights bill, no infrastructure bill, and a most unhealthy filibuster blocking any meaningful reform of our seemingly hopeless legislature. Again, this is normal now.
We have the king of kentucky and his one million votes to keep him in office continuing to effectively rule the Senate.
We have two idiots continuing to dither away any hope of progress on ending the draconian minority-rule we all suffer from.
What will it take for this country to wake up?

(32,006 posts)Although it is editorially conservative, it's more Eastern Establishment (think Bushes) than MAGA/populist. Its position is basically "support his policies, not the person" - for instance its November 4, 2016 editorial:
This makes it hard to predict how he would respond to the shocks and surprises that buffet any President. His firmest policy conviction seems to be that trade is a zero-sum game and that America is losing from global commerce. But if he follows through on his vow to withdraw from trade pacts, impose tariffs on imports and punish U.S. companies that invest abroad, he could cause a recession. The main economic battle in a Trump Administration would be between his pro-growth domestic reforms and his anti-growth trade policy.
And its June 25, 2020 editorial:
So it's no surprise its White House reporter would come out with a book like this.
