10 KC-area health departments issue public health advisory on COVID-19, recommend wearing masks

Ten Kansas City-area health departments issued a joint public health advisory on COVID-19 Friday, recommending that unvaccinated residents wear face coverings.
This is only a recommendation and not a mandate.
The region's health officials said the advisory is because of the rapidly increasing COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations across the Kansas City metro related to the emergence of the delta variant.
"We are in trouble," said Dr. Steve Stites, of the University of Kansas Health System on Friday morning.

they could be trendy like LA and reimpose the mandates, but they have no balls

(12,904 posts)And have been all of July. Our mayor has been asking people to mask up for 10 days or more.
I literally went one place unmasked in June. An outdoor garden center, because I forgot to grab a mask leaving the house.

(34,107 posts)I walked into a feed store where nobody had actually worn masks after our legislature took all the power and did not require them. I ran back out to the car to get my mask and they were all puzzled.
I just looked at them and said, "I was a critical care nurse." I have no idea if that made any sense to them at all. My preferred feed store is just as bad. I still mask and will for the foreseeable future.

even with a commonsensical governor.
