(3,319 posts)The 2-1 decision by the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals judges was a win for the CDC and, by extension, Norwegian Cruise Lines, which filed an amicus brief in this case.
In a separate federal case, NCL has sued Florida Surgeon General Scott Rivkees for the right to require all passengers be vaccinated against COVID-19 once it restarts its Florida cruises Aug. 15.
Taking a loss for now is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. DeSantis sued the CDC in April, and, exactly a month ago, U.S. District Judge Steven Merryday granted a preliminary injunction that wouldve turned the CDCs regulations into suggestions on Sunday.

(141,926 posts)for cruise lines returning to operation are rules, not suggestions, a federal appeals court ruled Saturday night, reversing a lower court decision in favor of the state of Florida. . .
The CDC protocols at issue here require conventional communicable disease control measures on cruise ships traveling internationally, which is an area of traditional federal jurisdiction, the U.S. Department of Justice stated in a letter filed Thursday to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.'

(4,369 posts)And now, Florida has the highest increase in infections, hospitalizations and deaths in the country.
CDC data shows new cases rising almost daily in Florida.
On Friday, Florida released its weekly COVID-19 report. From July 9 to July 15, Florida reported 45,604 new cases of COVID. It's an 11.5% positivity rate, a 92.4% increase from the previous week.
The state also reported 59 new deaths.

And DeathSentence's PAC is selling t-shirts and coozies with messages that attack Dr. Fauci.
Dont Fauci My Florida, read drink koozies and T-shirts that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantiss preliminary campaign team rolled out just as his state sees some of the highest coronavirus hospitalizations, new infections and deaths per capita in the country. Its the latest example of Republicans running on their opposition to virus-fueled shutdowns and mask mandates. A pandemic hero to some and villain to others, Fauci has become a high-profile target.

(25,955 posts)Does he appeal their decision to them first? I don't think he'll stop, too determined to make Biden look bad by infecting/killing us. I also don't trust SCOTUS with this, but hope they don't want that stink on their hands. It's our only hope of cruising out of our state again for a long time.
