NFL star quarterback Tom Brady took a scarcely veiled shot at Donald Trump’s false election claims during a celebration of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Super Bowl victory with President Joe Biden on Tuesday.

The quarterback added a jibe at the “Sleepy Joe” moniker Trump coined for his opponent during their campaign.

“We had a game in Chicago where I forgot what down it was,” Brady said. “I lost track of one down in 21 years of playing and they started calling me ‘Sleepy Tom.’ Why would they do that to me?”

Brady has starred in the NFL for more than two decades and is the oldest quarterback to lead his team to a championship. He previously won six Super Bowl titles with the New England Patriots before joining Tampa Bay last season.

He drew headlines after he skipped the Patriots’ 2017 visit to the White House, when Trump was in office. He also skipped a visit during Barack Obama’s administration, citing family reasons..................................

I'm not a fan of any team. I don't watch or follow professional sports. I live in mass and brady's and the pats infamy is very much in the news and has been for decades.

But if you think I'm a fan of a competitor, you arejust wrong. I don't like brady for who he is; not the job he holds.

As a side note, It was so much fun watching the Tampa sports guys kiss Brady's ass last season, after berating him for years. Oh how I loved it. Looking forward to Ring 8.

I’m no NFL big follower. But have pulled for the Saints since the early 70’s.

And have been a Tampa fan since I moved to Central Florida 34 years ago. But seldom watch games.

Brady’s team mates seem to like and respect him. And he declined visits with Obama and Trump. Joe certainly took it in stride. Actually seemed to make him look good and poked fun at the right. I know it was not well received by the hard core trumpers.

I also know some of them met with VP Harris to talk voting rights.

Tom takes it in good stride. He's awesome and his teammates love him. He's a great leader

21. I perceived Brady's "joke" differently

It seemed to me that he was suggesting that 40% of the nation (Trumpers, a high estimate) did not accept or believe that Biden won. When Brady was saying that "we won" I thought he was referring to the Tampa Bay football team and not Joe Biden's victory. Did Brady suggest that he was on Biden's team, and "we won?" Didn't seem like it to me.

But the media and commentator response has been rather unanimous in that Brady was mocking Trump, so I guess perhaps my perceptions are a little skewed.
