Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R- IL) has officially joined the January 6 select committee.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi made the announcement Sunday hours after hinting she was speaking to him about it.

In a statement Pelosi commended Kinzinger as someone who “brings great patriotism to the Committee’s mission: to find the facts and protect our Democracy.”

Kevin McCarthy would be wise to cast aside his devotion to DJT and put forth some members of his own choosing. The tantrum failed.

I have mixed feelings about this. I don't think he will undermine the commission, but he is one to sow conservative ideology into his statements. I hope that won't be a problem, and I really don't think it will be because his stature will only grow if he helps get to the bottom of this. And I do think he and Rep. Cheney will help toe the line toward the middle, which is where a full reckoning must originate, and I think Pelosi will be there for that too.

I doubt they have enough time to investigate and report. Hearings? They drag on forever. I'll bet the conclusions will be indecisive, but with strong security recommendations. Hope the jail sentences in the headlines keep this ball rolling.

I think both of them are serious about protecting our Constitution and finding out the facts about what happened and who was involved. I don't think either of them will feel they have to protect anybody involved in the insurrection.

Nancy will probably hold open the other four seats for McCarthy to fill, if he starts complaining about the job they are doing. (It will be difficult to criticize if you refuse to participate)

She may give him a deadline to make up his mind, because there are other Republicans that are interested in joining the Committee? But, they are ready to begin Tuesday, whatever McCarthy and Trump decide to do.
