Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas says mask mandate 'not necessary' at this point

Source: KSHB

"Every mayor of a major city in America right now is wondering if it's time to return to mandates," Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas said during an interview on CBS's "Face the Nation" Sunday. "We have thought at this point thus far that it is not necessary for Kansas City, as the secretary of commerce just noted, 97% of the cases that we're seeing in hospitals are from those who are unvaccinated."

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's guidance still states that fully vaccinated people don't need to wear masks indoors, but Dr. Anthony Fauci also said Sunday that changing the recommendation is "under active consideration."

"You're in a situation where we're having a lot of dynamics of infection," Fauci, chief medical advisor to the president, said. "So even if you are vaccinated, you should wear a mask. That's a local decision. That's not incompatible with the CDC’s overall recommendations."

Dr. Sanmi Areolo, Johnson County Department of Health and Environment director, told KSHB 41 News on Friday they're "not currently considering reinstating the mask mandate."

Time to hit the stores and stock up.

Food and essentials.

Stay home if you can.

Mask up if going out.

The hospitals are already overwhelmed.

I think triage will be happening.

Just so many medical personal.

The ones without the shots will be dropping like flies.

There will be long lines for the shots.

It will take a mass die off to get the attention of some people.

I still don't understand this craven thought process that dismisses vaccinated people GETTING SICK, regardless of whether they are hospitalized or not.

Why would you want people to contract it at all? This is not just "a seasonal cold or flu". This is how mutations happen and eventually one will survive and go on a replication spree. Any mitigation strategy helps to force this thing to die out faster so it can't gain purchase, and continue to spread.

These are NOT the same.

Rhinovirus ("a cold" virus) vs COVID-19 (coronavirus)

Those spikes on COVID-19 are like poison "homing" darts. They can attach to specific areas on some of the most vital organs in the body beyond just the nasal passages and lungs, and then start replicating at those spots.

is mitigating risk. Yet they have still not accepted COVID-19 as "a risk" and this is why we are still being crushed by this virus and its effects.

It's just like a business paying for fire insurance or even like those businesses who knowingly open up shop in a flood zone who responsibly go ahead and get flood insurance. Those measures, along with fire-proofing and flood mitigation, help to deal with a disaster and its aftermath so the business can recover and reopen.

But it seems that for too many of these people, the concept of a "human disaster" has no meaning when compared to some negative impact to what they consider "tangible assets" (i.e., to them, only "objects" like buildings, land, equipment, vehicles), so no priority is placed on people as also being a "tangible asset".

So as long as a business is not 100% robotic (inanimate object)-run, then a higher level of time and effort and $$$ needs to be applied to human "assets", or they won't have a business at all (as they have found out this past year).

Of course neither are vaccinated. She said in an interview that's not enough to make her run out and get a shot. They have an 11 year old.

Then she sets up a Go Fund Me for expenses.
