(33,643 posts)Not sure how that works.
Until I'm sure he
a) could have gotten the vaccine, and
b) chose not to, without any sort of doctor-recommended reason
I'll not run smack.

(2,861 posts)If he hasn't been vaccinated and he recovers they'll all scream, "It's a miracle! The prayers were answered!" blah, blah. If he hasn't been vaccinated and dies they'll say, "God called him home to be by his side to help with the lord's work."
If he has been vaccinated and dies they'll all cry, "The vaccines don't work. God tested his faith and he failed by getting vaccinated" or some shit. If he has been vaccinated and recovers they'll say, "He was blessed by God's medicine or God's healing powers always amaze!"
My feeling is if he's been vaccinated they would've said so. This pathogen is a crap shoot. No one knows how it's going to affect anyone that is infected by it. It might be nothing or it might be devastating. Get your damn shot!

(44,980 posts)Like you said, if he had been, his family would have presumably said so.
Large number of white evangelicals remain un-vaccinated.

(1,564 posts)My mother -- God rest her soul, she left us in 2007 -- was a saint. She was reared in the segregationist rural South in the 1920's-30's, yet, she championed civil rights and women's rights. The last march she attended she carried a sign reading: "I marched. My daughter marched. Why is my granddaughter having to march to end this shit?"
In 20XX, the Billy Graham Evangelical Crusade was coming to her city. She was on the Board of Directors of the organization that was raising money for the Crusade -- she pledged $10,000. Then she saw the list of demands from the Graham crowd -- I don't recall the details, but, the Graham people wanted:
-- Luxury hotel suites;
-- On-call limos, 24 hours a day;
-- Local folks paid the charges for the Graham private plane at the local airport;
-- Specific water, snacks, and the like behind stage at every event;
-- And on and on and on.
As I recall, it added up to around $200,000 the local folks would have to provide. She withdrew her pledge, resigned from the Board, did not attend a single event. When she explained to me why she did what she did was the first time in decades I saw my mother cry. She said: "We could have put children in camp, put roofs on houses, and done so much good with that money."
I don't know if I am sorry for the Graham grandson or not.

(36,995 posts)CBR - Cash Based Religion.
Judas was an early, modern-day, conservative disciple.
Judas got 30 pieces of silver, but just once, for selling Christ.
Franklin Graham, Jim Bakker, Pat Robertson, and their ilk get millions of dollars repeatedly for selling Christ.
Judas was a fool for doing a one-time sale.

(5,803 posts)That's an amazing--and disgusting--story.
Too bad there isn't more investigative reporting exposing these Pharisees. I'm guessing corporate media don't want to anger religious nuts + outing fake Xtians means lessening support for GQPee policies including corporate tax cuts.
