Mitch McConnell to Run Ads Urging Vaccination
Source: Political Wire
McConnell, who was vaccinated for COVID-19 in December and has been promoting vaccinations in public remarks ever since, plans to run 60-second radio ads on more than 100 Kentucky radio stations in the coming days promoting the vaccine with money from his re-election campaign.
Said McConnell: There is bad advice out there, you know. Apparently you see that all over the place: people practicing medicine without a license, giving bad advice. And that bad advice should be ignored.

(25,392 posts)Why? How? That's two months before the vaccine was available to most of us. Oh, I forgot. Mitch is a rich old white man with enormous power.
Also, Mitch was always wearing a mask way before most GOPers. That's good. And getting the vaccine, even if he cheated. That's good. I think that Mitch has a serious, concealed medical condition. That's good too (cue Robin Williams doing Gomer Pyle, "Oh, you're goin' to hell for THAT!" ).

(10,269 posts)The GOP is gonna take the brunt of the blame for the Delta Spike, and when kids cant be in school after Christmas, they're gonna get blamed to the point that they're afraid it will tank their advantages for the midterms...DESPITE voter restrictions, gerrymandering and historic off-year election results.
There will also be local economic impacts from the Delta variant's spread, even if (or especially if) local and state governments do not institute closure rules.
It isn't just the people who get seriously sick from Covid involved - it is their relatives, friends, co-workers, employers and the businesses they support.

(107,881 posts)Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) took a jab at Republicans on Wednesday over COVID-19 vaccinations, arguing the GOP has been "delinquent" in embracing the science of vaccinations.
Pelosi was asked during a new conference about Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) running radio ads in Kentucky to encourage residents to get vaccinated.
"Well I'm glad that he's doing those ads, long overdue," Pelosi said.
"This was so self evident and so obvious. I don't know, maybe they were getting - to use your term - political backlash for not doing it as they now sadly see people suffering, in some cases, with long-term COVID. So certainly, the Republican Party has been delinquent in embracing the science that people need to be vaccinated," she continued.
