Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo sexually harassed multiple women, including current and former government workers, and retaliated against at least one of the women for making her complaints public, according to a much anticipated report from the New York State attorney general released on Tuesday.
The 165-page report said that Mr. Cuomo, a third-term Democrat, and his aides cultivated a toxic work environment in his office that was rife with fear and intimidation, and helped enable “harassment to occur and created a hostile work environment.”
The findings of the report could fuel support for impeachment proceedings against Mr. Cuomo in the State Legislature, which Democrats overwhelmingly control, lead to additional calls for his resignation and influence public opinion as he considers running for a fourth term. Outside lawyers hired by the Assembly’s judiciary committee are currently looking at not only the sexual harassment claims, but a series of scandals with a common theme: whether or not Mr. Cuomo abused his power while in office.
The investigation was conducted by two outside lawyers hired by Letitia James, the state attorney general: Joon H. Kim, a former top federal prosecutor, and Anne L. Clark, a well-known employment lawyer.

He showed good leadership during the pandemic. He has promoted many liberal causes, including causes for women. I really hate it when an otherwise good elected official screws up like this. It lets down those of us who believe them and in what they promote. I felt the same way about John Edwards. He showed such promise - until he didn't.
AG Letitia James is professional and I trust her integrity in the investigation. I am disappointed in Cuomo. But it is what it is. We need to put our energy and focus into a different candidate for NY governor next year. We cannot let the Rs take advantage of this situation.

As a Democrat, I will never walk back my position that any Democrat on their worst day is better than any Republican on their best day. Andrew Cuomo is not perfect, but to the betterment of the party, he will make amends, learn, and endure.

Out here in California you have a bogus recall of Governor Newsome thanks to outside dark/dirty monies and GQP dirty money, yet the Governor in Florida, Ron Deathsentence is literally murdering men, women and children in Florida by inflicting Covid-19 on them, yet he cannot be recalled and he should be, plus the so-called "liberal media" that really doesn't focus on HIM that much.
We have a 2 party system, but it appears that only one party follows any sort of rules.

My response is more pointing out the fact that, on principle, if the entire Republican Party will literally defend everything from rape to trying to overthrow the government, what reason is there anymore to actually give a shit about justice or the rules?

(6,991 posts)It's so difficult to do, when you see one party stay breaking laws/rules on the regular--from trying to overthrow a government--to having two known sexual assaulters and worse sitting on the Highest Court in the land who will probably be voting to dismantle Roe vs Wade. Dems being Polly Pure Breads will show 'em, especially if Roe vs Wade is overturned. Then what? You have YOUNG right-winged, Federalist crazies packed onto courts all across this country thanks to MoscosMitch/GQP, who will be doing a LOT of damage to people who aren't rich, white, right-winged males for a very long time. But then again, the GQP got away with packing the courts, and they're trying to steal yet another election Because of the white male from WV and the woman in Arizona who don't CARE that the filibuster is about to make Dem voters pay big time, unless we come out in numbers to vote that haven't been seen before for the next GE, and even then laws are on the books currently that will suppress voting rights for the mostly loyal base of African-Americans that have stood by and voted for Dems, but in some ways don't always get their justice.
Back to Roe vs Wade, I'm happy to be out of childbearing age, but I do feel for younger women who have GQP'ers in firm control their bodies. Oh well.
Damn, the GQP's winning streak is quite impressive isn't it? I mean, even when they are in the minority they still have optimum strength and go on about getting their agenda passed/done.
