At least 10 people injured in stabbings on Tokyo train
Source: CNN
Ten people were stabbed on a train in Tokyo by a man with a knife Friday night, according to the Tokyo Fire Department.
The department responded to a call at 8:38 p.m. and found victims with blood stains when they arrived at the scene. All victims were conscious and one person walked away on their own, the department said. No deaths have been reported.
According to state media NHK, the suspect walked to a nearby convenience store and turned himself in, saying to the clerk, "I am the suspect of the crime that's playing in the news right now. I'm tired of running."

(2,971 posts)For that matter, I will freely grant that (all things being equal) an unskilled individual bent upon mass murder will
be able to inflict greater casualties with virtually any modern firearm than they would with a knife.
This having been said, it should be noted that Japanese civilians have never owned firearms in significant numbers, whereas here in the US it has been quite the opposite.
With as many as half a billion guns in general circulation, the majority of which having at this point no paper (or electronic) trail, and in excess of a hundred million more being imported and/or manufactured every decade
to say the genie is out of the bottle is an understatement of the highest order.
In the USA guns are here to stay, with all the consequences, be they for good or ill, associated with them.
