Florida state Rep. Anthony Sabatini (R) drew backlash and mockery on Monday after he proposed legislation to rename U.S. Route 27 — which runs through his state — after Donald Trump.

Sabatini, who is running for Congress in 2022, asked people on Twitter to sign a petition “to name Florida’s longest road” the “President Donald J. Trump Highway” to “honor one of America’s greatest Presidents.

2. When ever I use the Florida Turnpike (renamed after Ron Reagan) I give the sign the finger salute.

Even after all these years I still hate Reagan. He brought us to where we are today. At the entrance to the Turnpike is a huge very high sign with his name. High because I think they know it could be defaced otherwise.

Highway 118 had its name officially changed from The Simi Valley Freeway to The Ronald Reagan Freeway, on the grounds that it terminated very close to The Reagan Library.

To this day, everyone calls it:
The Simi Freeway.
