YouTube suspends Rand Paul for seven days
Source: CNN
Sen. Rand Paul, a Kentucky Republican, has been suspended from YouTube for seven days over a video claiming that masks are ineffective in fighting Covid-19, according to a YouTube spokesperson.
"This resulted in a first strike on the channel, which means it can't upload content for a week, per our longstanding three strikes policy," the spokesperson said. "We apply our policies consistently across the platform, regardless of speaker or political views, and we make exceptions for videos that have additional context such as countervailing views from local health authorities."
Paul criticized the decision by YouTube in a tweet on Tuesday.

(15,376 posts)That comes into play only if you, the public actor, attempts to compel them, the private actor, to carry your lies or anything else, even truthful statements. And that's infringing on their (the public actor's) free speech (control their own private platform.)
I know he's doing this just for MAGA, but you'd think an ostensibly educated person would change his shtick once in a while.

(42,426 posts)... that's how it should work anyway. His video is incorrect and dangerous because it's spreading lies and bad info. The fact that he's using his position as a U.S. Senator in doing this is even more offensive. If enough YouTube users report an inappropriate or offensive clip, then YouTube will usually do something about it.

(3,762 posts)If "cloth masks don't work" in preventing infection, and if he believes that "...actual science...tells us that cloth masks don't work...", then I propose that the next time he needs surgery, all of the operating room staff - surgeon, assisting surgeon, nurses, everyone - go bare-faced for his operation.
Would he be comfortable with that, knowing that they're breathing and coughing into his open wound?
What is wrong with these people?
