Alan Grayson enters race for Florida's U.S. Senate seat
Source: Florida Politics
Brash, progressive former U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson is running for the U.S. Senate.
The three-term Democratic former congressman from Central Florida has been exploring the possibility of a U.S. Senate run since March, and on Friday began running social media ads attacking Republican Sen. Marco Rubio and touting his own commitment to universal health care.
I think we were pretty much there, Grayson told Florida Politics Friday. Now were going to try to take it up a notch.
Grayson is a Democrat known for taking it up a notch. Or two.

(46,512 posts)Brash. He turns off a lot of people. He'll never learn to pull his punches. Whether the electorate will be more receptive this time around remains to be seen.

(22,825 posts)I've always liked him - his faults notwithstanding.
But Repugs have that yooge advantage over Democrats: they can nominate fire-breathers, and it works for them (sometimes).
We, on the other hand, always have to take the high road - even against vicious opponents.
It just doesn't seem to work well for Dems otherwise.

(3,581 posts)qualities and one of them is to tell it like it is. We complain about him being brash, but what republican is not brash, insulting and stupid? Why is it not acceptable from a Democrat but it is from a republican?
I think that things have changed and he will do fine, and hopefully kick Little Marco out of politics.

(58,785 posts)who knew him from inside weighed in against him. What on earth got a Democratic president to let his position be known in the nasty business of the party working to keep him from becoming our senate candidate in 2016? There were discussions of scandals in the papers, financial and domestic abuse, but what don't WE know?
He's no farther left on positions than many the party helped elect and support in office, so that's not it. We'd take another I-Sanders any day and be glad over the Republican who beat our Democratic candidate in 2016, scumbag incumbent Marco Rubio, of course. And the opponent he lost to in 2018, Darren Soto, ran as a much younger male Ocasio-Cortez with basically the same positions and is in office now.

A firebrand can work in some very specific congressional districts but will never work in a statewide election (in Florida).

Of course, that's not saying much - my completely self centered cats are better than Marco Rubio.

(2,965 posts)He will tell the truth and doesn't have any fear of any republican. He will call out their hypocrisy nor will he cower to them and their lies. He may not be everyone's favorite type of Democrat or cup of tea but, he will be a vast improvement over any republican in Florida.
It's beyond time for Floridians to elect someone that has their well-being and society at heart. Maybe taking it up a notch or two is a good thing.

(3,581 posts)I think it is time to bump it up a notch and Greyson can definitely do that.

We need to get Lil Marco out of office. Demings is our best bet. Grayson is a grifter.

He wants you to think hes brilliant.
As far as I. An recall, he never did anything constructive in the House, he just made speeches that progressives liked. Theres more to the job.

(12,168 posts)...I don't think someone like Grayson, as much as I like him, could win state-wide. He's a very "local" candidate. Now, having said that, I would like to see him debate Rubio. Grayson is an excellent debater, and Rubio, well, not so much.
Polybius
(17,275 posts)No way can he be elected to statewide office in Florida unless he runs against an extremist. He's a firebrand that's too far to the left to win against Little Marco.
