(CNN)Rev. Jesse Jackson and his wife are both hospitalized after testing positive for Covid-19.
"Doctors are currently monitoring the condition of both," the Rainbow PUSH Coalition (RPC) said in a statement Saturday. "Anyone who has been around either of them for the last five or six days should follow the CDC guidelines."
Jackson, 79, and his wife, Jacqueline Jackson, 77, are currently at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, the statement said.
In February, the civil rights leader underwent successful surgery after being hospitalized for abdominal discomfort. In 2017, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, a neurological disorder with no cure.

(7,408 posts)So after 8 months and the emergence of Delta, it looks like the effectiveness has waned for many and a booster or reengineered vaccine is going to be needed.

(25,392 posts)Jackson had a significant injury when he played for Mississippi State University. My F-I-L was an orthopedic surgeon in Jackson's hometown of Greenville, SC, and treated him there over several years in the 1960s.

with interest?
He came to speak at UCSB when I worked there, and I got to hear part of his speech at the plaza. I was hoping to be able to shake his hand when it was all over, but being a worker-bee and not a student I had to leave before he was done.

(16,881 posts)Here in Spain the public health system will only hospitalise cases with very serious symptoms, whatever your age. So I was wondering. Your system is different, of course. I hope they do OK.

(6,846 posts)with some commonalities, but thereare more differences than similarities.
Plus not all states have hospitals as overwhelmed as some states are. Someone who lives in Chicago and is following the progress of CoViD would have a better idea than I have living in Colorad as to who is getting hospitalized there and who is not.

(7,591 posts)he came to Austin to support the "Cablevision" (now Time Warner) Strike in 1992. Our office was in the same complex as Cablevision. He walked pickett with the workers. They has never had a strike but Cablevision decided they would stop payroll deduction of union dues thus provoking the strike which lasted for 6 months. The NLRB ruled "unfair labor practices" but their intent was clear - get replacement workers.
Just another of the nasty anti-union practices of the Southern "Right-To-Work" States. The anti-union movement was in full swing after the Asshat Reagan decided that workers were not important and greed was all that counted.
The destruction of the middle-class was the GOP's top priority for decades.
