Another Florida school district will require masks, bucking DeSantis' orders

The Leon County school district, home to the capital city of Tallahassee, is set to become yet another school district in Florida to institute a mask mandate for students that doesnt allow parents the choice to opt out, bucking an order from Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.).
Rocky Hanna, superintendent for Leon County Schools, announced in a video on Facebook on Sunday that the school district will be requiring masks for students in grades pre-K to 8th grade, starting Monday.
I am aware that I am the first elected school superintendent to take such action. I am also aware, fully aware of the consequences I may suffer, he said.
Governor, I do have an obligation to uphold the laws of the state of Florida, he added in a direct message to DeSantis. I have a greater obligation, however, to protect for the health, safety and welfare of the children in Tallahassee and Leon County.

(2,499 posts)Only this time they want to kill children in order to gaslight and blame the public schools for COVID deaths among young people. They did the same damn thing with education budget cuts. If all else fails, then the teachers should strike.
