Hell, even "Their Satanic Majesties" has some amazing cuts.
A bit of Rolling Stones/Beatles trivia. Before they come up with the name "Revolver" for their seventh studio album, Ringo had suggested calling it "After Geometry" as a takeoff on "Aftermath."
Luckily cooler and more psychedelic heads prevailed.

(10,293 posts)always did it for me more than their later stuff. But bands, material and members change.
Charlie Watts always seemed to be so rock solid steady and foundational. He drove the bus. I don't know how he can be replaced.
RIP Mr. Watts.

(23,607 posts)For all of his low-key skill behind the kit, Watts seemed well aware that he was an irreplaceable element of the Stones sound.
As one famous story from the bands heyday goes, Jagger once phoned Watts hotel room in the midst of an all-night party asking Wheres my drummer? Watts reportedly got up, shaved, dressed in a suit, put on a tie and freshly shined shoes, descended the stairs, and punched Jagger in the face, saying: Dont ever call me your drummer again. Youre my fucking singer!
In addition to his brilliant drumming, Watts also used his design skills to design various tour stages, including the 1975 Lotus stage, the 89/90 Steel Wheels tour, the Bridges to Babylon Tour, the Licks Tour, and the Bigger Bang Tour.
Rest In Peace, Charlie Watts. You were truly one of a kind.

(109 posts)Goodbye Charlie. I will miss you tremendously. The Stones are my all time favorites. I saw them 4 times over the years. The first time I saw them, I figured I'd never get to see them again.
The coming years are going to be tough.
Keith claimed back when Charlie punched Mick Keith caught Mick from going out an open window into the river. Keith said later it was only because Mick was wearing Keith's favorite jacket...
