Biden Says U.S. Will Seek Retribution for Kabul Attacks; 'We Will Hunt You Down'

Source: Wall Street Journal

WASHINGTON—President Biden said the U.S. would seek retribution for the attacks Thursday in Afghanistan that killed 12 American servicemembers and dozens of Afghans and promised to continue evacuation efforts.

“We will not forgive. We will not forget. We will hunt you down and make you pay,” Mr. Biden said during remarks Thursday evening at the White House. He said he had instructed his national security advisers to develop response plans to the attack.

Meanwhile, the U.S. evacuation effort would move forward, he said. “We will not be deterred by terrorists,” he said, adding, “We will continue the evacuation.”

Mr. Biden added of the loss of life, “We’re outraged as well as heartbroken.” He called the members of the U.S. military who died and were injured heroes. He added that the situation on the ground remained volatile.

Taliban take Kabul. There's now no government in Afghanistan and no one in jail. All prisoners are out. That includes ISIS and Al-Quaeda.

They are fanatics and they look forward to sleeping in the arms of Allah with the 17 (or whatever) virgins.
Death is a REWARD for them.
Threats don't deter.

Afghanistan will go back to where it was 40 years ago, before the Russians and before us.
Biden is a brave man who may have committed political suicide by doing the right thing.
It won't be the first time a president has done that.
See LBJ.

that Isis doesn't care. His message was for the American people and for the world. It was not a threat to intimidate Isis. It was a promise to make the world safer from Isis.

Biden will deliver on that promise. He will not send huge numbers of troops to the region to look for them. He will coordinate with our intel and with the intel of our allies. He will strike at a time and place of our choosing. Our military has special forces for this kind of mission. They took out OBL. They will take out the Isis culprits. Count on this. It will happen.

that Biden was just speaking for the morale of Americans. He meant every word.

Our intel on the suicide attacks in Kabul was on the mark. We gave warnings the night before that it was imminent within a few hours. Some of that intel came from the UK.

We will coordinate with allies and contacts. We have many ways to find them and take them out. It will happen.

The ones who do the talking do...that's why they don't do the bombings themselves. If Osama bin Laden was a doer, he'd have been on a plane himself. But he was just a talker who was good at convincing others to do what he wasn't willing to do. Same with these assholes. Bet if you found their cave, they'd run like roaches when the light gets turned on (until absolutely cornered).

Afghanistan was a lawless country, with different factions fighting for dominance.

Nothing has changed in that time. Blowing things and people up is still a preferred option for some factions.

Once the evacuations are complete, I guess targeted drone strikes will be the go to method for the US military.
Unless Biden orders a 'hands off' approach, but it doesn't sound like that at the moment.

Meanwhile, here in little old Adelaide, South Australia, some Afghan shop keepers are looking very unhappy. With good reason.

would have had enough of this by now, but that would be an erroneous assumption.

At the first sign that occupying forces were going to leave the country, they cut and ran. Same as always.

They can have their ancient, tribal society and rot in it. No aid, no protection, no intelligence. It's all yours, Afghanistan. Apparently you'd rather live like that than fight for your freedom.
We gave you countless chances. Goodbye. Forever.

Mistake was being there as long as we have!

Now, the equipment that will left behind should be used as prime targets in the next phase. Not to mention, costs of fuel to a region that has no infrastructure once we leave and the know how to use the equipment. Equipment that is mostly wore out.

What is Afghanistan? It's a desert! No fuel, no real crops, no infrastructure and no industry. Kinda reminds you of star wars of Luke's teenage home. We accomplished our mission years ago and it's up to those that had a taste of freedom the past 20 years if they want to be free or cow down.

Enough is Enough! Biden did the right call, Trump would of sat on his 3rd hole and fiscally dump money into a deep pit, with American lives lost. Coming September, we need to keep our guard up.

Focus on the virus!

Let the victors rule the ruins.

Any factions over there any good at rebuilding a civil war ravaged, ruined society? No, didn't think so.

USA: By all means take out the ISIS/Taliban leadership with targeted drone strikes.

Not going to help. Just about as much as spending 20 years trying to wrap Afghanistan in a veneer of American style democracy.

And . . . be ready for a repeat of 911.

We've had far too much "collateral damage" from missiles and drone strikes, killing far too many innocent women and children with no guarantee the intended targets were taken out.

The goal should be to weaken ISIS, not help them recruit more terrorists. This conflict needs to be fought in the arena of intel, covert ops, and winning hearts & minds.

Also, we want to rescind the War Powers Act which gives presidents vast discretion in committing acts of war undeclared by Congress.

The so-called "War on Terror" employing military intervention has proven to be a nearly complete failure, doing more to metastasize the spread of violent jihad than to quell it.

Perhaps it WAS politically necessary for Joe to publicly vow we would "hunt down" those behind the recent ISIS attack, but the need for such bold tough words to convey an image of strength says more about the dysfunction of American politics than the true strength of our Union.
