Three people were arrested for allegedly assaulting a New York City restaurant hostess on Thursday after she asked a group of diners visiting from Texas to show proof they had been vaccinated before seating them.

Cellphone footage obtained by NBC New York shows a brawl involving several people outside Carmine's Italian restaurant on the Upper West Side. Staff and bystanders intervened to break up the melee after it broke out around 5 p.m. ET, the station added.

The hostess, who has not been identified, was repeatedly punched and her necklace broken, police said.

One unspecified patient was taken to the Mount Sinai Hospital, the New York City Fire Department said, without stating their condition.

1. This is the reason why I oppose NYC's restaurant and gym vaccine mandate law

While I completely support vaccine mandates, don't put it on the workers to enforce them. Have under-covers go in and randomly check the customers, and give fines when necessary.

I live in Staten Island, a Red part of NYC. Restaurants here have been slow all week. Most anti-vaxxers here know about the law, and they are just staying home. While that's good for us, the owners have been losing money.

people can live a life again.

This is one incident. I and probably a hundred thousand other people peacefully showed our vaccine cards in NYC restaurants last night and enjoyed a nice night out in a way we haven't been able to in almost two years.

I wouldn't be going into restaurants if it was a random check by "under-covers." Too many unvaxxed would be willing to risk not getting caught.

Those guys were looking for a fight. If it wasn't at Carmine's, it would have been somewhere else.
