Connecticut lawmaker rejects calls to apologize after comparing Gov. Ned Lamont to Hitler over COVID

Source: Hartford Courant

HARTFORD COURANT | OCT 10, 2021 AT 11:18 AM

In a lengthy Facebook statement, a Connecticut state representative doubled down on comparing Gov. Ned Lamont to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler over Lamont’s vaccine mandate for state employees

State Rep. Anne Dauphinais made the comment on a CTNewsJunkie Facebook post sharing an article on the firing of 12 Connecticut state employees who refused to get the vaccine or submit to weekly coronavirus testing. The legislator, who represents Killingly and Plainfield, is a member of the public health committee.

Democrats, Jewish groups and the Connecticut Anti-Defamation League condemned the comment and called for Dauphinais to apologize.

Among them was StopAntisemism.org, which said, “Hitler was a genocidal maniac that systemically gassed, starved and murdered eleven million people. For State Rep. Anne Dauphinais to compare @GovNedLamont to him in order to justify her own personal COVID stance is horrific and does nothing but whitewashes the Holocaust!”

They aren't children being taught right from wrong, they're adults. If they don't apologize for vile comments or conduct, it's because they aren't sorry. Rather than call for them to apologize, just hang the comment/conduct around their necks.

She didn't know how this would sound to the world? That it was exponential hyperbole with a poor fit? She thought this was leading somewhere, that it would be beneficial for her to say this and accretive to her party?

She's bonkers!

Unless the voters in her district think the same way!

We're in this mess because voters were told that it was fine to be bigots, racists, and even religious fanatics, by a man who is nothing but a grifter!

They were called "fine people" for flying flags of traitors and of a genocidal maniac who murdered millions...by a con man!

And their motto is "White is always Right"!

Her voters are ignorant by choice, or maybe they like the idea of murdering millions of people...as long as those people are different!!!

The opposite was the case: they knew that withholding compulsory vaccination and other German public-health innovations would help kill more of the "undesirable" and “inferior” people who they wanted to rid from the world.

and point out that is a justified, accurate description rather than a historically-ignorant bit of name-calling.
