it also costs money to not be able to purchase goods. manufacturers have contracts to fill, better to pay more for shipping than not be able to fill orders. my employer is spending a lot of money to overnight items that then don't come overnight, disrupting our business.

Most of the domestic carriers are pretty much 24/7 (apart from holidays).

But it's good PR.

In other news, office workers will start working 9-5 in order to increase efficiency.
