Texas woman charged in riot asks judge to approve Mexico trip 02:40

(CNN)A Texas florist became the 100th person to plead guilty in connection with the January 6 insurrection, a landmark moment more than nine months after the deadly attack on the US Capitol.

Jenny Cudd, 37, pleaded guilty Wednesday to entering a restricted building, namely the Capitol. Cudd could face up to one year in jail, though the federal guidelines call for zero to six months. Capitol rioters with similar cases have received probation or a few weeks behind bars.

The facts of her case are routine, but she went viral in February after she asked a judge for permission to attend a four-day work retreat near Cancun, Mexico. District Judge Trevor McFadden approved her request, citing the fact that prosecutors didn't have any opposition.

Federal prosecutors say Cudd is unrepentant, citing a Facebook video in which she said, "F--- yes, I am proud of my actions, I f---ing charged the Capitol today with patriots today. Hell, yes, I am proud of my actions," according to court records, and a local news interview in which she said: "I would absolutely do it again." The Justice Department has used comments like these to push for harsher sentences, and some judges have cited rioters' defiance in sending them to jail. Sentencing is set for March 11.

1. Cudd

Is a perfect name for this fool. Isn’t Cudd the partially digested grass that gets thrown up after occupying one of 4 cow stomachs before passing on to another. She looks partially digested. Acts like it as well. Sick of these fools participating in the “Walk of No Shame” and sent on their way.
Justice. What a damn joke the country has become.

3. She's the hag who asked her trial be moved to Texas because she said DC hates conservatives.

In tRump land that means I don't want any blacks or minorities on my jury. Rot in hell, Cudd.

2. A guilty plea..

to "Entering a Restricted Building" and the prospect of little or no imprisonment. Well, that should really deter those who may be considering such acts in the future. What a fucking joke! These so called "prosecutions" are an absolute travesty! The sedition crowd has been given the green light for their next coup. There's a pattern developing and it's not one that inspires confidence that these traitors will suffer any real consequences for their actions.

6. I agree. I expected those who actually entered the Capitol to get years, not weeks.

These sentences are no deterrent at all. People like this see hem as a badge of honor. I wonder if they’re also being sent to light security prisons to serve their time.

9. No it's not a "travesty". That's the correct charge.

What charge do you believe the prosecutor should have used instead? Do you believe the prosecutor has enough evidence to get a conviction of some other more serious charge? If so, what's the evidence?

Or, could it be that the prosecutor is making decisions based on the actual evidence at hand (as they are supposed to do)?

These calls for "life in prison" and "off with their heads" are ridiculous. Revenge is not justice.

19. Sorry...

but I spent over 30 years in federal law enforcement investigating and assisting in the prosecution of significant criminal matters and none of these even remotely approached the events on January 6th. What we witnessed on that day was a mob (inspired by their fascist messiah among others) attempting to subvert our Constitution and the rule of law by engaging in an insurrection to literally overthrow our government and install their preferred rulers. This is not about "revenge", but recognizing that those participants who attempted to subvert the democratic process and perpetrated acts of violence/vandalism in this process be held accountable for the gravity of their actions. This was an attempted coup and all those who participated should have been charged with sedition. The video and documented statements by individuals should be all the "evidence" any reasonably competent person needs to conclude that these individuals are an existential threat to our system of government and society. If there ever was a action that literally demanded the extensive use of deadly force, January 6th was it! Unfortunately, that was not the case and it the reason that we are now being subjected to revisionist history, portrayals of the insurrectionist as "patriots", and members of the GQP openly advocating civil war. Subjecting the insurrectionist to minor misdemeanor charges does not even remotely have any deterrent effect and only emboldens them and inspires others in the future. Also, I stand corrected. What has transpired to date is not a "travesty", but actually an abomination - a reprehensible miscarriage of justice and a betrayal of the law abiding citizens of this country. They deserve no less than "life in prison"!

7. I'm guessing the sweet PPP money she got paid for that "work retreat" in Cancun.

Cudd also stated on her “Jenny Louise” Facebook page that she received PPP funding to help pay her employees. An initial search of Small-Business-Forum.net shows Cudd Enterprises, which shows the same address as Becky’s Flowers, also received an Economic Injury Disaster Loan of $150,000. Cudd Enterprises LLC. also was awarded a $41,000 PPP loan according the Small Business Administration.

She wrote the following about receiving money, “Considering the massive amount of taxes I pay and the fact that my business qualified for it and I applied, I viewed the PPP as getting some of my money back which paid the nine people whom I employ for a couple months.”

14. Another slap on the wrist coming up

The prosecutors are guaranteeing this happens again. So few people have faced severe enough consequences. Any other country in the world and these people would be in prison for years and decades.

1 year in prison should have been the minimum given to the insurrectionists. And that's for the people who just strolled in and stood around. Some of the people should face life in prison without parole.
