(10,481 posts)You would be so goddamn irrelevant if we had one or two more seats and I hope the fuck next year that's the case. Seriously these two are just trying to kill the bill entirely now. Because its just demand after demand now

(12,597 posts)Seem like every week or so, the 'good' Senator has a new, non-negotiable demand. This is not negotiation, it's Proud Mary grade showboating.

(13,814 posts)Probably a mix of both. If he keeps moving the goal line his fellow Democrats will end up with nothing, and it certainly seems that's what he wants.

(17,556 posts)I dont expect the midterms to go well for us when nothing gets accomplished. Just my opinion.
Manchin is stalling for that very reason also in my opinion. Democrats are not doing anything about it.

(53,927 posts)Manchin because of where he lives, but I bet he couldn't last 2 months on that kind of income. In my area, a modest rental would cost about a third of that without utilities. If you have a couple of kids, childcare might cost in the $10,000 range. Doesn't leave much for food, clothing, medical needs and other necessities.

(21,195 posts)The VAST majority of families receiving child tax credits, SNAP, housing assistance and Medicaid gave at least one working adult. This is the guy opposing raising the minimum wage from $7.25 and hour? Does he not understand the concept of "working poor" when he's from one of the poorest states in the nation?
In the words of Andy Dufresne in The Shawshank Redemption, how can he be so obtuse?!

(2,710 posts)Once you come up with a solution to a problem, he finds another problem that needs a solution. Rinse, repeat. We really have to GOTV so we can nullify this man and make his stranglehold on our party obsolete, but what do you expect from a guy who said he talks to trump regularly.

(512 posts)Biden should use LBJ's time honored hard ball approach of talking about scaling back federal programs that directly impact him (i.e., Appalachian Regional Commission). Joe Machin's wife is the chair of this commission.
Polybius
(21,875 posts)LBJ had like 67 Senators. If one said "Go scratch your ass, I'm outta here!" he could afford to lose one. We can't. Biden is also not LBJ, who was always a tough guy.
