LONDON (AP) Queen Elizabeth II has reluctantly accepted medical advice to rest for a few days and has canceled a trip to Northern Ireland, Buckingham Palace said Wednesday.
The palace didnt offer specifics on the decision, but says the 95-year-old monarch is in good spirits,? and disappointed that she will no longer be able to visit Northern Ireland for engagements Wednesday and Thursday.
The Queen sends her warmest good wishes to the people of Northern Ireland, and looks forward to visiting in the future,? the palace said.
She is resting at Windsor Castle, where she has stayed since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic last year. The decision to cancel the trip was understood to not be COVID related.

The Queen's personal information is tightly managed by her PR team and courtiers.
Something must be up.

(11,581 posts)This sounds a little unnerving.
She recently lost her most-of-her-life partner and so many who have enjoyed successful long-time partnerships find themselves waning quickly after their demise, and then also passing.
I find Queen E to be very resilient and able, but she is human.

(23,339 posts)The boat ride to Ireland can be a bit unsteady this time of year.
Or Northern Ireland. Same water.

(52,160 posts)I hope this is just an abundance of caution but fear it is part of the downward turn people take after their spouses die.

(46,039 posts)I don't know that would have made her feel better enough to travel, but it was just stupid and thoughtless to take away something she enjoys. She's not only old, she just lost her husband of many, many years.

(756 posts)worthy of the respect of her position. Let's pray she not only recovers but spends the last years of her life without great discomfort.
Her COVID speech ranks, imho, as one of the greatest demonstrations of leadership in recent years. The way former President Trump disrespected her is an embarrassment to me as an American.

(1,939 posts)Yeah, she gets the best medical care, but attempting to attend to her duties at her age...admirable.
