Senate Republicans block voting rights bill as pressure builds for filibuster reform

Source: The Independent (UK)

Senate Republicans have once again blocked debate and a vote on another voting rights bill, killing chances of any federal safeguards against a wave of voting restrictions across the US.

Voting rights advocates and a growing push from lawmakers have urged Democratic senators to dismantle filibuster rules that have obstructed critical parts of Joe Biden’s agenda and threaten to undermine the right to vote.

But I’ve just had it with these so-called Democrats raking in cash for scuttling programs that help Americans.

They are part of disenfranchising 30 million Americans . . . who just happen to be black:

https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2020/10/21/key-facts-about-black-eligible-voters-in-2020-battleground-states/

The number of Black Americans eligible to vote for president has reached a record 30 million in 2020, with more than one-third living in nine of the nation’s most competitive states – Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin – a higher share than the 29% of all U.S. eligible voters who live in these states. Nationwide, Black eligible voters now make up 12.5% of the U.S. electorate, up from 11.5% in 2000.

AZ - Mark Kelly
FL - Val Demings
GA - Rafael Warnock
Iowa - Who cares
MI - No race
NC - Primary is Wide Open to take Burr's seat
OH- Ryan *crossing fingers - I think he can win*
PA - Three Contenders *crossing fingers I think two of the tree can win

If the The Right To Vote Act gets through today - Garlands Justice Department can hit these fuckers hard. We have a shot at EVERYTHING else in 2023 if we can keep the House - and increase the Senate.

because they know that they have rigged and gerrymandered the 2022 & 2024 elections and they will be able to take advantage of no filibusters and say that - hey - the Dems killed not us - we're just doing what they would do.

Moscow mitch admitted this almost verbatim a while ago as have many others over many years. The only way the GOP acquires/retains power is by cheating. Unfortunately, our "laws" have enshrined this practice through gerrymandering, electoral college and filibuster.

We know which way 100% of GQP would decide. They would end democracy in a heartbeat. In fact, that's what they're doing by pledging absolute fealty to a sociopathic narcissist who wants to be dictator -- not only of the U.S., but the world. A man who asks about nuclear weapons, "If we have them, why don't we use them?" is a man who wants to terrorize the all other nations to his will lest they feel the repercussions of his mighty wrath. All he would have to do is annihilate one foreign city -- Tehran comes to mind -- and every other country would wake up each morning to the thought, "Are we next?" That's the definition of a terrorist, and T**** would be more than happy to assume that appellation, since it would feed into his obsession of being seen as a strong man. What better way to prove that than dominate the world?

Think of H***** with nukes and a way to deliver them and you've got the idea, except TFG would make H look like your annoying next door neighbor.

Anyway, polls show that if TFG runs again the nomination and most likely the presidency is his -- especially if S&M succeed in thwarting all of Biden's agenda, which appears to be their goal. I hope I'm wrong, but the media's obsession with Manchin has left Sinema free to run her own game.

$1.75 trillion is better than $0, which is where we started out. I vote we take the money that's on the table now and work to improve it in the future. Just MHO.
