LONDON (AP) Britains Queen Elizabeth II was back at Windsor Castle on Friday and in good spirits after revelations that she spent the night in a London hospital earlier this week.
Buckingham Palace said the 95-year-old British monarch went to the private King Edward VIIs Hospital in London on Wednesday for preliminary investigations. She returned to her Windsor Castle home at lunchtime on Thursday and was understood to be back at her desk by afternoon, undertaking light duties.
The queen underwent the tests after she canceled a scheduled trip to mark 100 years since the creation of Northern Ireland, and the palace said she had reluctantly accepted medical advice to rest for a few days. The matter was not related to COVID-19.
The palace does not normally offer a running account of the monarchs health, citing her privacy. However, in this case it confirmed the queens hospital stay after The Sun newspaper reported the news.

(16,361 posts)Abdication (which is what it would be called if she stepped down for Charles or if he did it for William, and that is a dirty word to the Queen after that nasty business with her uncle David (Edward VIII). I imagine it would be to Charles, too.

It's obvious that Elizabeth could have transferred decades ago after his first marriage to Diana (or even after William and Harry were born). But it seems obvious something else was going on there that precluded that decision.
I know my mom used to talk about Wallis Siimpson and that whole deal. (my mom would have been 91 this year)
