Democratic Gov. Ned Lamont is filing papers for a possible reelection campaign, though he insisted on Monday that he has not made up his mind about pursuing a second term.
Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz is also filing reelection papers; Lamont said the two will run as a team should they opt to run again in 2022.
While Lamont stopped short of a formal campaign kickoff, his comments, made at a stop in Ansonia to highlight infrastructure spending, provided the first official confirmation that he is pursing a reelection bid.
I filed the paperwork today, which facilitates our getting into a political campaign, Lamont said in Ansonia, where he and Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz had a press conference on transportation infrastructure. Ive got to make up my mind formally in the months to come, but I figure lets be prepared. Lets file the paperwork. Lets get this thing going.

(112,350 posts)I would hope that the source being listed as the Hartford Courant would provide enough information to come up with the current state.
I did want to take the time to acknowledge your reply though since it is a valid point.

(1,078 posts)I think Lamont is a shoo-in for re-election. He's handled the pandemic extremely well. And our state is in the best fiscal shape it's been in years, decades maybe.

(67,782 posts)Back in 2010 I supported Dan Malloy at the Democratic State Convention when he got the endorsement of the Party. I was angry that he decided to primary Lamont, who won the primary easily. Then campaigned more for Malloy harder than for any candidate before.
I was thrilled when he won - the first Democratic Governor in 20 years, and it was coming off the Rowland scandal.
He turned out to be great.
I was leery when Lamont decided to run last time. But he turned out to be exactly what the state needed, just as Andrew Cuomo was perfect for NY to get us all through the last two years.
As it was, through Lamont's policies and hands-on work, Connecticut has been one of the safest states in the country. We've had the highest % of vaccinated residents of any state, now around 85%.
And he'll perfect the next few years implementing the new infrastructure funds we'll be getting.
Run Ned Run!!

(19,348 posts)as are many businesses. A 2 year budget is in place without tax increases and with a few billion left over for the rainy day fund.

(67,782 posts)Between Malloy who got us out of the Rowland years when he did zero "governing" (only protecting his butt and lying) and Lamont getting us through the last two years, Connecticut has come a long way in the last decade.
Even many republicans are recognizing that.
