President, VP and spouses help food kitchen for holiday

Source: AP

By DARLENE SUPERVILLE

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill, helped a local food kitchen prepare Thanksgiving meals for the needy before leaving town — like millions of other Americans — to resume their family tradition of spending the holiday on tiny Nantucket island in Massachusetts.

Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, joined the outing to DC Central Kitchen, which serves cooked-from-scratch meals alongside training for culinary jobs.

Decked out in DC Central Kitchen aprons, the four dished out turkey, gravy, sweet potatoes and green beans into trays to be packed up for needy D.C. residents.

Jill Biden kicked off the holiday season at the White House on Monday when she received the official White House Christmas tree — an 18 1/2-foot (5.6 meter) Fraser fir cut from a North Carolina farm that she declared “magnificent.” The tree is destined for the Blue Room as the showstopper of Christmas at the White House — Biden’s first as president.

Class and grace are quite virtues. Joe has seen and gone through real suffering and yet his faith and
his own inner grace makes him understand that helping people is the path to real joy.

Thanks for the post. We all need to see things like this to remind us of how calming it is to have a real President and First Lady and of course the VP and second gent also!

Survivors, it was reporters.

Remember how nasty he was to the Mayor of San Juan who waded waste deep waters to help people? She was a Democrat!

If you have ever been in San Juan, the streets are narrow, making it hard to even turn corners in an SUV.

She and Jill, along with the Chef cook a Thanksgiving Dinner. They had to prepare it in Blair House because the WH kitchen was under going renovations.

When they showed the decorated table at the WH I could not keep from thinking of all those hamberders laid out for the teams. What a contrast. Jill showed the plates from former Presidents, including Hillary. So classy.
