US Customs officials seize nearly 4,000 bongs at DC airport

(CNN)US Customs and Border Protection officials seized a shipment of
almost 4,000 bongs at Washington Dulles International Airport, the
agency said.

The $56,000 shipment arrived from China on October 2 manifested as
"gravity pipes," the CBP said in a release Wednesday.
CBP import specialists "confirmed that the glass bongs violated U.S.
laws on the importation of drug paraphernalia," the release said.
The bongs were headed to an address in Los Angeles County, California.

than it is to come up policies and plans to solve/mitigate the opioid addiction problems, or any other myriad of domestic issues we have in this country.

Although, I suppose if I am being fair it doesn't sound like this was done as part of some large investigation, but rather they were detected during normal customs operations. In which case, I suppose the issue is why is this even news?

Those are standard water pipes. At least the one in the picture is.

A gravity pipe is a completely different design, but is a thing.

The basic design involves water rushing out of a space and creating a vacuum, which draws the smoke into a chamber. The water is then forced back in, and the smoke is forced out through a mouthpiece. Like a shotgun bong, only someone doesn't need to blow the smoke out.

The chinese need to be more honest in their marketing labels. It would also help if it didn't result in a bright red arrow pointing to drug paraphernalia.

They should be stopping Chinese fentanyl, not bongs. Pot helps people get off of deadly opioids. This is pretty counter productive.
