Amazon Web Services are down, taking huge parts of internet offline
Source: The Hill
Amazon Web Services (AWS) were down Tuesday morning, leaving large parts of the internet reliant on the tech giant's services offline.
On its health service dashboard, AWS posted a message at 11:22 a.m. that the company is "investigating increased error rates for the AWS Management Console."
"We are experiencing API and console issues in the US-EAST-1 Region. We have identified root cause and we are actively working towards recovery," AWS said in the message.
The message did not detail what the cause was. A spokesperson for the company declined to detail the identified cause and told The Hill that the message will be updated on the health service dashboard "as it's ready."

(6,261 posts)My ebook reader is not connected to the web, and the books are (open) ebook-formatted files on the hard drive that I don't need permission for to read nor can they be taken away.
I'd never own a device where I need to ask for permission to read a book or play an audio track.

(2,522 posts)Very coincidental that one of the countries largest company and net provider suddenly goes down at the time president Biden and Putin are engaged in serious talks.
Hopefully just a glitch....
off.

(45,442 posts)don't quote me on that. I'm just wondering if Putin is up to some dirty tricks while meeting with Biden on Ukraine.

US government officially suspects Russian SVR or independent Russian hacking groups working with support from Russian SVR.
We won't know until the reports become unclassified, which could be years later.

(1,568 posts)With Amazon, I would wonder if theyd attempt to keep a hack quiet as to not scare off their customers.

(950 posts)It was the first time it's been down in the 6 months I've had it. I'm waiting to hear what really happened. If it was hacked or how much "info" was stolen.
After all, we're all just beta testers for of the electronics stuff we use and depend on. Nothing is ever tested properly anymore. Everything seems to have massive holes in it's so called security.

(2,992 posts)I took her in yesterday for her check-up and second COVID vaccine dose.
All of their records are cloud-based, so the pediatrician was unable to provide me with some information from previous visits, such as her previous height and weight.
We keep track of her height and weight at home, so this wasn't really a serious matter for us, but it might have been a problem for other parents.
