Betty White, whose multigenerational TV career proved nice girls don’t finish last and sometimes don’t seem to finish at all, died Friday at 99, TMZ reported.

The beloved TV icon was 18 days short of her 100th birthday.

I was at the Disney Studio commissary in Burbank standing next to the drink machine. She came up to me holding a full tray and asked if I could get a coke for her. I did, put it on her tray, she thanked me and was off.

She was sweet, polite, congenial, understanding and not fussy. She was just wonderful and warm.
I feel so sad about this. 2020 and 2021 have been seasons of losses, with many of those I cherish disappearing. Here's another. You can't live forever, but shit, I'm pissed. We lost a national treasure. She will be mightily missed.
