Georgia Governor Announces Push to Loosen Handgun Rules

Source: US News & World Report

ATLANTA (AP) — Facing an unusual challenge from fellow Republicans in his bid for a second term, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp said Wednesday he will push for a new state law that would loosen requirements to carry a handgun in public.

Kemp made the announcement at a gun shop outside Atlanta that bills itself as the “world's largest gun store,” where he was joined by members of the National Rifle Association and state lawmakers.

Kemp did not lay out specific changes he was seeking but expressed support for what gun rights advocates call “constitutional carry.” Multiple bills purporting to advance that idea in the state Legislature would do away with the need for a license to carry a handgun in public — either openly or concealed on one’s body.

“Building a safer, stronger Georgia starts with hardworking Georgians having the ability to protect themselves and their families,” Kemp said. “In the face of rising violent crime across the country, law-abiding citizens should have their constitutional rights protected.”

It's more about pandering to the MAGA crowd, knowing that David Perdue has Trump's endorsement already and is poised to oust him in the primary. The GQP crazies in Georgia hate Kemp because they firmly believe the delusion that Kemp somehow had the power to throw out all the Atlanta votes and give the state to Trump.

I predict that the race will come down to Abrams versus Perdue, and she's going to beat him. It will be close, but the Georgia Democrats will turn out in huge numbers for Abrams. She is absolutely beloved here across the Democratic spectrum. I also think Sen. Warnock will win re-election assisted in part by Abrams' coattails.

State I won't feel safe to travel through. I was at the grocery store the other day when I saw a trumper carrying one of his death devices on his hip. This guy was sauntering around like he owned the place. I went to an employee that was stocking the shelves and pointed the guy out to her. She just shrugged and said it was none of her business and said I should mind mine as well. I was floored, I parked my half filled cart in the isle and left immediately. I dont understand this world

Not anyone of course, but someone you think "had it coming to them" for one reason or another.

It's obvious he's pandering to a particular breed of redneck so why not cement the base before the primary challengers do.

Hope that kind of message is better than pandering to gun-humping rubes.

Hopefully, Perdue and KKKemp will screw each other fighting for racist vote.
