Supreme Court issues revised transcript of Gorsuch remark about flu deaths

Source: The Hill

The Supreme Court on Monday issued a revised transcript of oral arguments over a Biden administration vaccine rule that clarified a statement Justice Neil Gorsuch made about the number of annual flu deaths.

The original, uncorrected transcript quotes Gorsuch as saying he believes the flu kills "hundreds of thousands of people every year."

This erroneous transcription prompted legions of tweets and at least one media report that tut-tutted Gorsuch and pointed out the actual number of annual flu deaths, according to a Centers for Disease Control estimate, is between 12,000 and 52,000 - well below hundreds of thousands the conservative justice purportedly cited.

On Monday, however, the Supreme Court's press office issued a corrected transcript showing that Gorsuch actually said he believes the flu kills "hundreds, thousands of people every year."

Sotomayor did the same during oral arguments:

- Claimed covid deaths are at an all time high
- Claimed that Omicron has been deadlier than Delta
- Claimed 100K children are hospitalized with covid

Then she gets called out by the CDC:

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky refutes Justice Sotomayor's statement that "over 100,000 children" are hospitalized due to COVID, with "many on ventilators":

ANCHOR: "The number's not 100,000. It's roughly 3,500 in hospitals now?"

WALENSKY: "Yes."

"He's still a blithering idiot" still agree with that

when the majority of flu deaths occur.

Covid-19 is a constant threat, where anyone can catch it, get sick up to dying, anytime, anywhere. Forever.

gorsuch is an ass. I bet he said 'hundreds of thousands', and even if he did mean hundreds, thousands, he probably didn't have the brains to know he was speaking grammatically incorrectly, let alone factually by saying 'hundreds of thousands'.
