DirecTV to sever ties with OAN and drop the right-wing conspiracy channel later this year
Source: CNN
New York (CNN Business)One America News, the right-wing conspiracy channel favored by former President Donald Trump, will be dropped later this year by DirecTV, a spokesperson for the television carrier said Friday evening.
The move will deal a significant blow to the fringe outlet. Not only will OAN be removed from the millions of households that use DirecTV as a television provider, it will also suffer a major hit to its revenue.
------------
In a statement, a DirecTV spokesperson told CNN, "We informed Herring Networks that, following a routine internal review, we do not plan to enter into a new contract when our current agreement expires."
Bloomberg News, which broke the story, reported that the contract expires in early April. A person familiar with the matter confirmed that date to CNN.

Now please drop Newsmax, too. And Fox.

But we really need to cut out the major cancer on America and that is Fox News. At least
make them quit calling themselves "news" because they are not.

(77,868 posts)Fox is much worse because its "footprint" is so big and millions more watch it and think they are seeing

(12,802 posts)Requiring the truth is a start. Not allowing them to be silent on major issues could be next. Legislation would be necessary to stop the media steal of our democracy.

And what about newspapers are you for regulating them? Should you be able to demand your newspaper delete certain stories or columns before it is delivered to you?
pwb
(12,802 posts)And when a newspaper is wrong or lies it prints an apology. What does Cable do? they keep lying. We lie you decide is not news. IMO.

(18,181 posts)I cancelled my cable service a couple of years ago due to the fact that I'm not home enough to justify the cost, if I want to watch something while at home on R&R, I have Netflix, Youtube, etc, same in both of my trucks.
Most truck stops have free internet for truck drivers so streaming isn't an issue.
Thanks for the link.

(8,183 posts)I do Roku streaming for services I subscribe to, like Netflix, Prime, Pandora, Hulu and the like. Last month I took advantage of a $.99 cent offer for Showtime, Starz, Acorn and something else I forget now, but doing it through the Roku Channel.
I noticed OAN right there on the guide. So now I'm wondering if OAN access will be dropped Roku Channel as well?
