Rudy Giuliani, three other Trump allies subpoenaed in January 6 riot probe

Source: CNBC

The select House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot on Tuesday issued subpoenas to Rudy Giuliani, another former lawyer for ex-President Donald Trump, and other allies.

The subpoenas are the latest in what has been a raft of demands for interviews and evidence issued to people in Trump’s orbit by the House panel.

Giuliani had led efforts for Trump after the 2020 presidential election to challenge results that showed President Joe Biden had won that race.

The former New York City mayor Giuliani was assisted in that fight by the attorney Jenna Ellis, who also has been issued a subpoena by the panel.

House Jan. 6 committee subpoenas Giuliani, Sidney Powell

By Jacqueline Alemany
Today at 5:38 p.m. EST

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection issued subpoenas to members of former president Trump’s outside legal team on Tuesday, including Trump’s former personal attorney Rudolph W. Giuliani, former White House aide Boris Epshteyn, and lawyers Jenna Ellis and Sidney Powell.

“The four individuals we’ve subpoenaed today advanced unsupported theories about election fraud, pushed efforts to overturn the election results, or were in direct contact with the former President about attempts to stop the counting of electoral votes,” Chairman Bennie G. Thompson (D-Miss.) said in a statement.

Thompson’s statement added, “We expect these individuals to join the nearly 400 witnesses who have spoken with the Select Committee as the committee works to get answers for the American people about the violent attack on our democracy.”

Giuliani and Epshteyn were part of the group of Trump advisers who coalesced at a “command center” at the Willard Hotel in the lead up to the Jan. 6 rally on the Ellipse and the counting of electoral votes, the committee noted.

Jan. 6 Inquiry Subpoenas Giuliani and Legal Team That Made Claims of Voting Fraud

By Luke Broadwater
Jan. 18, 2022, 5:25 p.m. ET

WASHINGTON — The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol on Tuesday subpoenaed Rudolph W. Giuliani and the legal team that pursued a set of conspiracy-filled lawsuits on behalf of former President Donald J. Trump that made claims of fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

In addition to Mr. Giuliani, Mr. Trump’s personal lawyer and a ringleader of the group, the panel subpoenaed three others: Jenna Ellis, who drafted a memo on how Mr. Trump could overturn the election by exploiting an obscure law; Sidney Powell, a lawyer whose organization raised millions of dollars based on false claims that election machines were rigged; and Boris Epshteyn, who pursued allegations of election fraud in Nevada and Arizona and participated in a call with Mr. Trump on the morning of Jan. 6, “during which options were discussed to delay the certification of election results,” the committee said.

“The four individuals we’ve subpoenaed today advanced unsupported theories about election fraud, pushed efforts to overturn the election results or were in direct contact with the former president about attempts to stop the counting of electoral votes,” Representative Bennie Thompson, Democrat of Mississippi and the chairman of the committee, said in a statement.

I know he is going to ignore it though (but then they probably know that and should hopefully have the paperwork ready for a referral to DOJ).

The plan:

1. Continue to delay, appeal, delay, etc.
2. Assume control of the House in 2023, thanks to the various laws being passed making cheating legal.
3. Immediately shut down the 1/6 committees and investigations.
4. Assume control of the White House with Trump (or equivalent) in 2025, thanks to the various laws being passed making cheating legal.
5. Trump (or equivalent) struts in with his pardon-o-matic machine all primed and ready to go.

in the speeches, and we need to know what was agreed about it beforehand, and with whom. And since it was a public speech, there's no way they can claim that it's covered by any "client-attorney confidentiality" (and that relationship between them was spurious anyway).
