Obama to Return to Campaign Trail on Thursday with a Trip to Nevada: White House

Wed Oct 31, 2012 10:12am EDT
(Reuters) - President Barack Obama will return to active campaigning on Thursday with a trip to the battleground state of Nevada, the White House said in a statement.

Obama has taken three days away from campaigning to oversee the response efforts to massive storm Sandy, which hit the East Coast earlier this week.

I think the Obama team took a decision long ago that there were enough voters that already believed, or leaned toward believing, that Obama was anti-business (not true but that is the meme). He would campaign on the need to rein in Wall Street and ask the rich to pay a little more but would not embrace the climate change issue.

It is a significant issue that will affect all of us in many, many ways. It is unfortunate that where climate change is a serious political issue in my western-style democracies such as western Europe, Australia, etc., we cannot have an honest debate. Why? Because we have GOP congressional leaders that are anti-science (Rep. Paul Broun - GA) and believe the whole climate change issue is contrived.

We continue to spin and spend more time and money fighting these kinds of battles when the rest of the world is moving past us. We continue to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars each year fighting over a woman's right to choose. How stupid is that?

6. Truthfully, I believe Obama is doing himself FAR more good staying off the campaign trail

and overseeing relief efforts. He looks FAR more presidential and dignified. Plus, I can't help but think his "media" exposure is FAR better where he's portrayed as actually being effective and doing his job. There's a meme on the right that Obama has been in campaign mode rather than doing his job - this goes a long way towards dispelling that.

He should continue to minimize campaign events and simply work on relief efforts. He'll win more votes that way imho.

He did his Presidential job, in a calm, cool and collected manner.

NOW, he can get back to the campaign.

YES!
