(NewsNation Now) A Tennessee lawmaker says Kyle Rittenhouse is a hero to so many and is introducing a self-defense bill known as Kyles Law.
To me, the Kyle Rittenhouse case was an example of abuse by a district attorney going after a defendant for political purposes, state Rep. Bruce Griffey, who wrote and sponsored the bill, said on Dan Abrams Live.
House Bill 1769 would require the state to reimburse costs to a defendant who is charged with criminal homicide but found not guilty due to self-defense. Defendants would make a motion for reimbursement following their not guilty verdict and leave it to the court to determine how much the defendant is awarded.
If you have a jury unanimously come back and say this prosecution should never have taken place, thats the situation I think a defendant should be entitled to get some compensation from the state, Griffey said.

(32,047 posts)This legislator is from Henry County - a northwest Tennessee county that went from solidly D during the Solid South era to solidly Republican during the 2010s.
It seems that politicians from those remote areas of the country (think Traitor Queene, Bozo Boebert) rile up their bases by talking "look at all the crime/degeneracy in the liberal big cities" - probably to make people in those economically depressed areas feel better about themselves, rather than proposing anything that will revitalize their districts.

(46,151 posts)wouldn't that ENCOURAGE more individuals to shoot first and then claim self defense? Getting away with murder with the state picking up the tab? And encourage more attorneys to take cases they would have shunned b/c of fear of non-payment?

is to not encourage self defense by making sure those who defend themselves know theyll be bankrupt for doing so. Make them decide if life saving measures are really worth it. Maybe moral superiority is deciding not to use a gun against your attacker, whom is a human being with rights and maybe their economic conditions are at fault and your life is privileged, but to accept your fate and maybe youll do better in your next life.

I predict that Kyle Rittenhouse will end up in prison some time in his life because our system wasn't strong enough to STOP HIM while it still had a chance.
He has been told he is invincible. And he will continue to push the envelope.
