Nation’s largest abortion protest could be last under Roe

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The largest anti-abortion rally in the U.S. returns Friday with thousands of expected protesters in Washington who feel within reach of their goal for the last 49 years: a sweeping rollback of abortion rights. ... “My hopes have been dashed many times, but I have never felt like this,” said Joe Pojman, executive director of Texas Alliance for Life.

The March for Life, for decades an annual protest against abortion, arrives this year as the Supreme Court has indicated it will allow states to impose tighter restrictions on abortion with a ruling in the coming months — and possibly overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that affirmed the constitutional right to an abortion.

The rally, held on the anniversary of the Roe decision, is taking place in amid a COVID-19 surge that is expected to limit turnout at the National Mall. Some abortion opponents posted on the event’s Facebook page that they will not attend because of COVID-19 vaccine mandates for people going to restaurants and other places in the District of Columbia.

It’s clear that the religious extremists have more targets once they take away women’s rights to their own bodies. Outlawing birth control is on their agenda, along with rolling back all LGBTQ rights. Knowing they have a sympathetic Supreme Court will get the right-wing voters out in droves.

In my opinion, there are three major issues that Democrats need to hammer:
1. Invest in alternative energy to mitigate climate pollution, creating and keeping energy manufacturing jobs in the US (batteries, solar panels, wind turbines, etc.) along with creating new service jobs for installing and maintaining alternative energy—good jobs that not only benefit the economy but also create a cleaner, safer future.

2. Ensure that everyone has access to healthcare and affordable drugs. The pandemic has shown the weaknesses in our system.

3. Protect the personal rights of citizens, including voting rights, reproductive rights, gender rights, LGBTQ rights.

Democrats tend to have policy positions on many issues, which is good, but voters tend to focus only on one or two issues. As an example, Youngkin won Virginia by focusing on CRT and parents’ rights to decide school curriculum. CRT was a made-up issue, but it got white parents who don’t want their kids to learn about the horrors of slavery out to vote. Democrats don’t need to make up fake issues. Climate warming, healthcare chaos, and the loss of rights are all real and huge issues needing government help to address. There are certainly more issues, but these three touch many peoples’ lives. Anyway, my two cents worth.

Republicans are in favor of killing living babies and have done so.

Pro-life to conservatives/republicans is a myth.

The supposed pro-lifers cared naught when the state of Texas (republican gov, republican Prez) deliberately killed living baby Sun Hudson against the mother's wishes because he was an inconvenience to the state.

It is not a matter of life to the supposed pro-lifers.

It is a matter of control.

A fetus is not a baby....some still have tails and almost all of them have webbed feet and hands. Their eyes are just dark patches on a head. Pretty freaky for a baby.....

But religious idiots think anything floating in a womb is a baby because God.
