Michigan Attorney General joins investigation of Lee Chatfield sex abuse claims

LANSING, MI — Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is assisting Michigan State Police in its investigation of the allegations of abuse carried out by former state House speaker Lee Chatfield against his sister-in-law.

“The Department is assisting the Michigan State Police as it continues its investigation. We will not be commenting further given this remains open and ongoing,” said Lynsey Mukomel, a spokesperson for the attorney general.

Chatfield is being investigated following a criminal complaint alleging Chatfield, 33, began sexually assaulting the now 27-year-old Rebekah Chatfield at a family operated Northern Michigan church when she was 15, and continued until last year, according to her attorney, Jamie White.
