Accidental Bill Belichick Text Messages At Center Of Brian Flores Racial Discrimination Lawsuit Agai
Source: Boston CBS local
BOSTON (CBS) Bill Belichick texted the wrong Brian to congratulate him for getting the Giants head coaching a job, according to a lawsuit filed by former Dolphins head coach and former Patriots assistant coach Brian Flores.
The lawsuit showed text messages of Belichick sending congratulations to Flores for landing the Giants job on Jan. 24. That text was sent two days prior to Flores actually interviewing for the job.
After Flores initially appeared confused by the text message, he asked Belichick, Coach, are you talking to Brian Flores or Brian Daboll. Just making sure.
Belichick replied: Sorry I fed this up. I double checked & I misread the text. I think they are naming Daboll. Im sorry about that. BB
The lawsuit alleges that Flores was then forced to sit throug a dinner with Joe Schoen, the Giants [sic] new General Manager, knowing that the Giants had already selected Mr. Daboll. Much worse, on Thursday, January 27, 2022, Mr. Flores had to give an extensive interview for a job that he already knew he would not get an interview that was held for no reason other than for the Giants to demonstrate falsely to the League Commissioner Roger Goodell and the public at large that it was in compliance with the Rooney rule.
So glad the NFL is being sued. Eff those assholes owners after they blackballed kapernick. Jerry Jones kneeling made me through up a little in my mouth.

(32,354 posts)I hope a maximum amount of NFL dirty laundry is exposed. All this is way overdue.

(11,504 posts)NFL owners like to pretend that they don't blackball people even when they are clearly blackballing someone.

(2,133 posts)he knows that. He didn't care. He said this is bigger than my career.

(61,033 posts)And he should've been one of the first ones hired as he took the moribund Dolphins franchise, mired in a season-after-season doldrum, to two straight winning seasons.
This is his "Curt Flood" moment and my hat is off to him as this suit will hell others as it puts the spotlight on the ol' boy network of the owners' constant re-hiring of the same, fired, white head coaches, coordinators and GMs.

(13,538 posts)If I thought I didn't have a shot & the decision had been made, I would've called them on it and stayed home. Daboll was the favorite from the start; because of his QB track record.
Sorry, not too pissed about this one; even though Belichick is involved.

(13,538 posts)And as I said earlier, Daboll was the heavy favorite from the start because of his work with QBs. If everyone knows that's what you're looking for, its going to affect your search. Yes, the NFL took a long time to get a black coach. But they're going to still go for what they think fits best.
Someone is going to hire Eric Bieniemy. Which is who I wanted the Falcons to hire last year. And they'll get a good one in him from what I've seen. Maybe other black coaches as well this year; who knows. I've kept my eye on him because I hoped my team would hire him. And just watch; next yr the Falcons will play whoever does hire him and get their ass kicked.

Stop blaming Goodell. It's the owners. They are the ones who hire and fire.
Goodell makes a convenient target to avoid pointing the finger where it really belongs -- The Owners

Somebody skipped that day of Con Law
Wow did an actual lawyer write that?!
Oh my.
This is about as bad as an error can get in a pleading.
"Hey judge...I don't know shit. Sincerely- the attorney filing this."
That's from Flores's complaint, which has a lot of interesting stuff to go along with that mistake. The Coliseum did force the Rams to integrate, but it wasn't because of the Supreme Court and of course it wasn't because of Plessy.
etc etc etc

Gave him the evidence he needed to go after the league with plausible deniability.

They said the NFL is innocent until proven guilty. I told them that this circumstance only happens in criminal cases. This is a civil suit, so the bar is lowered to preponderance of evidence and I got attacked and flamed for not knowing the law.

(17,539 posts)but he was. Now he's a former NFL head coach who was fired and in the market for a new gig.
Evidently the reason he was let go is because he tried to win games and not lose them as the owner wanted in pursuit of drafting near the top of the NFL draft. That is the real scandal, an owner, Stephen Ross, who was prepared to pay his head coach a bonus, reportedly 100k, for losing games.
When the Steelers were looking for a new coach after Cowher retired in 2006, all the media odds were on Russ Grimm getting the job. IIRC, there were even reports that Grimm was hired. As per the rule named after the owner, the Steelers interviewed then 1st year MN DC Mike Tomlin. Tomlin was so impressive in his interview, he was hired and 15 years later is still their head coach.
