Authorities raid Michigan home of high-ranking Homeland Security official Vance Callender

Source: CNBC

Authorities raided the Michigan home of a top U.S. Homeland Security Investigations official and seized several items from the residence, a neighbor said Tuesday.

The raid occurred last Friday at the Royal Oak, Michigan, house of Vance Callender, HSI special agent in charge at the agency's Detroit office, who has worked in federal law enforcement for 26 years.

Callender, 49, was appointed the top HSI agent in Michigan and Ohio in January 2020. HSI is a division of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, an agency of the Department of Homeland Security.

The agents supervised by Callender enforce immigration and customs laws, and investigate criminal organizations for drug smuggling, financial crimes, human trafficking, and other activities.

From the article:

It was not immediately known which law enforcement agency conducted the raid on Callender's residence or the reason for it. The raid was first reported by The Detroit News.

A spokeswoman for the FBI field office in Detroit said in an email, "The search you referenced was not an FBI operation."

"DHS or ICE would be the appropriate agencies," that spokeswoman said.

An ICE spokeswoman, who did not confirm that the agency carried out the raid, would not discuss Callender's job status when asked about it by CNBC.

I suspect he had something going on in TX that put him on DJT's or Stephen Miller's radar, or was enabling something rather special for them. Why and when he was assigned to Detroit area is not stated, but he was elevated to Agent in Charge in January 2020.

In January 2020, he was appointed special agent in charge of the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), a U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) department, overseeing federal investigations in Michigan and in Ohio, USA.
In July 2020, he and (his wife) Brooke bought a home at the Royal Oak in Oakland County, Michigan for $566,000.

(Before his apprehension) because if he thought he was going to get arrested, he had connections with Border control agents he could pay to get him across the Mexico border. He was arrested in Texas, before he had a chance to flee. I wonder if they got some information about connections with paramilitary groups.

grade may be better than you'd expect.

The story says they bought a house for $553,000. For most people that would mean they have a mortgage on it. It's still a tidy sum, and who knows how the deal was done. Maybe they paid a substantial amount down based on whatever thy may have sold in San Antonio, Which is a choice location too.

I expect we'll find he did certain favors for or ran some policies preferred by DJT. What he got was the promotions, and no doubt certain promises and protections, along with connections to higher offices.

Besides, his wife might work or they had a lot of equity in the previous house.
