Retired Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, who testified against former President Trump at his first impeachment, filed a lawsuit Wednesday alleging Trumps eldest son, as well as adviser Rudy Giuliani and other Trump allies, conspired to intimidate him into not testifying and retaliated against him after he did so anyway.
.........................
....................
Vindman was serving as director for European affairs at the National Security Council (NSC) at the time of Trumps July 2019 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and promptly raised concerns about the discussion with the NSCs lead counsel, leading to his eventual subpoena by Congress.
In his 73-page legal complaint, filed in a Washington, D.C., federal court, Vindman alleges that following his subpoena, he became the target of a dangerous campaign of witness intimidation by President Trump and a group of conspirators in an effort to deter him from testifying.
Among the defendants listed in the federal suit are Donald Trump, Jr. and Rudy Giuliani, as well as Trump advisers Dan Scavino and Julia Hahn.

Alexander Vindman: Why Im seeking accountability against Trump allies in court
Public servants who do their duty, tell the truth and uphold their oaths of office shouldnt be subjected to intimidation and retaliation.

In July 2019, my life took a dramatic and unexpected turn when I listened to a phone call during which the president of the United States made inappropriate and possibly unlawful demands of a foreign leader. I did my duty by reporting my concerns within the National Security Council, where I served as a director. When later subpoenaed by Congress, I testified truthfully about what I heard. As a result, my career and personal life were forever turned upside down................[more for subscribes]

(30,275 posts)This is one reason I don't see him running for office again (other than that pesky insurrection/conspiracy thing). He has lawsuits hanging off him like the chains on Jacob Marley's ghost.

(17,802 posts)As potus, he had nearly unlimited power and he had the treasury to back up his every whim or desire.
I imagine if he ever got back in power, it would be permanent and silly little lawsuits wouldn't mean anything. He would just brush them off and refuse to pay.
You couldn't arrest a sitting potus against his/her will.

Yet I'd bet the loon still has hopes of overturning the constitution & becoming a Putinesque dictator where lawsuits don't matter. The idiot imagined the presidency came with such power.
