(22,508 posts)When he stormed the Capitol, Beddingfield was on bail on a first-degree attempted murder charge in connection with the December 2019 shooting of a 17-year-old in a Walmart parking lot, when Beddingfield was 19. He was initially held on $1 million bail, but he secured pretrial release when bail was lowered to $100,000. After he stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, Beddingfield pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in connection with the shooting. He was on probation in the shooting case when he was arrested Tuesday.

(19,187 posts)Just murder 1, which he was allowed to plead down to a lesser charge, the sentence of which he already served and is out on probation.
He's definitely white. Definitely.
Our justice system offers two very different outcomes, depending on the color of one's skin.

(16,920 posts)somebody could possibly opt to do something like that when they must be SO innocent from their first charge - right?
How else could they possibly be considered 'worthy' of bail from the first charge?

(81,127 posts)I was going to say I wish them MANY sleepless night. But that would imply they hadnt been apprehended yet. I want them arrested, jailed, and convicted of whatever can send them to prison for awhile. So maybe - MAYBE - they have to sit and seriously THINK, HARD, about things for awhile.
Besides, if they have felony convictions on their record, does that also mean they cant vote? And what else would they lose the right to do?
