Canadian trucker protest spreads to second city, threatening U.S. auto industry lifeline

Canadian truckers protesting coronavirus restrictions and vaccine mandates on Tuesday partially severed a key trade artery between the U.S. and Canada, threatening to further disrupt new car and truck production that already has been hampered by a prolonged shortage of computer chips.

After blocking streets in the capital Ottawa for 10 days, the truckers brought their anti-government blockade to the Ambassador Bridge, which links Windsor, Ontario, with the city of Detroit.

Each day, $300 million worth of car and truck parts, agricultural products, steel and other raw materials flows across the bridge, according to Flavio Volpe, president of the Auto Parts Manufacturers Association in Toronto.

U.S. manufacturers rely on daily or near-daily shipments to and from their Canadian partners. Just one or two more days of interrupted deliveries could lead to temporary layoffs or plant closures, Volpe said.

Deep down, all these so called macho men, and the ones at January 6th are all deeply insecure, and true chicken shits......They all need their assault weapons, Viagara, some alcohol and the odds of a hundred of them to one person on the opposition to be "brave tough guys".

If only the capitol police had started dropping them as they came through the doors and windows, it would have caused a stampede of these losers running as fast as they could from the capitol area......

My saddest moment of the insurrection was when these assholes weren't able to find Pence. The Secret Service doesn't take prisoners, or shoot to disable or only wound their advesaries . When those trucks left Ottawa, Ontario's governor and MI's governor could have effected coordination of the highways on either side of the bridge, using the RCMP on one side, National Guard on the other, stopping approaching trucks from Ottawa, allowing them go through the bridge one at a time, monitored by police along the bridge, and warned that if they stopped they'd be immediately arrested.

Now that they've seen these trucking company drivers' behavior, both nations have to bring their boards and CEO's to a sitdown, then pass laws that prevent any pretext of surprise or helplessness, any pretext, such that those corporations will be sure not to break those laws on penalties that range from millions in fines to even charter dissolution. The threat, or actual national takeover of the offending trucking industries might even be the Canadian government's endgame as a warning to other privatized companies

...has been slowed down but is moving. Apparently they have different lanes for trucks and cars.

Seems like traffic going into Canada is close to normal.

This is just from reports I've seen.
